I suppose I should have written here sooner, but better too late than never. I stumbled on to this site while on my deployment in Iraq.

I'm in the Air Force in the Security Forces career field. Lucky enough I am stationed at one of the very few 'actual' law enforcement units and get to do the job that I love. It's not the same as a civilian police department, but it's about as close as it gets in the military. We have our patrols and respond to calls just like "regular" cops (on- and off-base).

I still have some time left in the service but am looking forward to seperating so I can continue my career in civilian LE. And I'm sure this is a good place to find some help in doing that.

Off-duty I enjoy Mountain-Biking and am very engaged in coaching youth sports. Life without kids is just meaningless.

Well. that's me. Glad to be here..

Welcome to our world!

The Biking in germany is pretty good. Lots of nice big forests with trails to ride through.

You would be surprised, it's quite refreshing. I know several trails that lead straight to a little "beer garden" as they call them here. So we ride there, sit down outside enjoying one (or two) beers, then get back on and ride home. This is quite normal. And there's a playground next to the beer garden so the kids can play while the parents have a drink. Yep, I love germany! As a matter of fact, I think this will be my first order of business when I return.

By the way is it illegal to drive a bike drunk in the U.S.? I know you can get a DUI for it in germany if it's on the roadway.

Hello,
I am Kaimana Kamalani and I am from Japan. I am pleased to meet you and happy to join this Police Link. I may have to excuse myself because of the time difference in Japan right now. I will be back on later as it is 10:53 a.m. Friday, 01/11/08 and I am on a lunch break. I will sign back on to the computer later tonight.
Thank you for your time and welcoming me today,
Kamalani

Check your state's statutes.

Two elements that have to be met, 1) Motor vehicle 2) Public roadway

Not quite true Riley. If the mower is on private property you can fall off it drunk. However, move it onto the sidewalk, which is considered public domain, and you may face charges. Depends on local state law and if the mower is defined as a 'motorized vehicle' or an 'instrument of husbandry'. True stuff. You will see soon...

Something else to consider...the front yard my be considered private property, but it is public access? If so, a public intoxication charge would be in order if the subject poses a danger to himself or others.

Peace
