I think I got off on a bad start here at policelink and i want to go ahead and say that it was wrong of me to post in another forum before posting an intro and sparking a snowball of replies. im not sure why i saw that article today and why i wanted to post on it but i felt that it was just for discussion purposes. i honestly didnt think i would start such a controversy.though a few of the responses were somewhat ignorant statements made against me and i lashed out accordingly that doesnt make it any more right. i felt like i was cornered and well ive never posted much on websites, a few on youtube, but i never made such a response. the few times i did post i usually sided with the LEO rather than the subject and thats statistically always the case....but i DO NOT want to come off as so empathetic that i will roll a carpet out for the guy hell no! please dont think of me as a person trying to stab the cops in the back. im not trying to come off as "the civilians are always right crap" IM NOT....but please trust me ive gone through some crazy stuff in the few years ive been around....i have been in life or death situations....they are not fun in anyway....there are consequences to our actions believe me i know they can be harsh....but this does not justify me in anyway for the rash of replies i made....again im sorry for the way i came off....im not a know it all whatsoever....i havent finished school yet and ive been bouncing around idle for a while and unfortunately i studied the wrong crap for 2 and a half years...after that i went to work for a marketing agency of a family friend...i have very little direction in life and i finally realized a few months ago that the greatest pleasure i get is in helping people....thats when i started to change my lifestyle and make a change in my life for the better.....i saw law enforcement as a goal in life that wont just fullfill what my family wants for me but what i want to do for myself and others in life..i respect every policeman/woman for what they do in this country and im just trying to help....again im sorry if i offended anyone but i respect your stance and hopefully someday you all will respect mine.

Mark, it's not so much a matter of offending any of us. Most of us are way beyond being offended. The lesson you can take from this is twofold:

1) It's more important to keep your mouth shut and have people think you're a fool, than to open your mouth and confirm it.

2) Know when to listen, absorb, and say, "hey thanks for your feedback".

No need to argue any further. There are times when it's ok to agree to disagree. Otherwise, son, you're just pissing into the wind.

Marksman, again, it was not that you expressed your opinion, you simply did not listen to why your observations were wrong when told how it really is by some very experienced cops. Also it did not appear that you heard the fact that he was acquitted of any wrongdoing as well. Learn from these guys as there is a tremendous amount of knowledge here that ranges from guys that became LEO's last week to those that retired before you were born. You might check out the time of service thread that is running and see just how many years are represented here.

Those were my thoughts as well. I was positive in response to your first post as a differing perspective prompting a discussion. Your subsequent post had me hitting my head on the keyboard.

Don't feel too bad, if you actually end up in law enforcement, you'll step on your crank as a cadet, a rookie officer, a rookie sergeant, a rookie.....and someone will always be there to slap some sense into you if you let them. I prefer a slap on the left side of the head (it's not my best side and therefore the bruising doesn't damage my purty looks).

Ah, but isn't it all about quality and not quantity. Besides, if I get to count my Cub Scout/Boy Scout time too, I'm at like 24 years.

Mark you are welcome to post opinions, but as stated, we will post ours and may disagree with you. We just ask you step back and read the posts. You may disagree with a post I make and I will consider your opinion. However when we are talking about the levels of force, I think the LEO's might have a greater input.

I am proud you stepped up and apologized, no harm no foul. Feel free to return your profile to the way it was, have no fear here, we protect all.
