Isnt there a way to keep posts to be answered by LEO, LEO only? A password? or some form of site security? This agitation amongst the troops is getting old & I find myself coming here less & less.

Sorry bro. I feel like I instigated some of the more recent agitation. Sorry again, but I was enjoying the satire. Try policeone.com. They have a secure forum. Not as fun as this, though. Glad jeff191 hooked me up with this. First time I've actually spent time on a forum site.

nlcrsn: I'm a non-Leo and I think they should have at least one thread that is Leo only. I like getting information about how the police work (I find it interesting) but there's too much animosity and it keeps us non-Leo's from getting answers to what we want to know or ask anyways. The hatred that gets expressed(granted it's a small few) isn't doing anyone any good. If you Officers need to talk without non-Leos knowing then it would probably be better if you could do that. Even the Officers that don't express hatred toward non-Leos are asking about a restricted thread so I think it's a good idea. I have a degree in medicine and there's some things the non-medical people won't understand (does anyone need to know what instruments are used for their surgery except the surgeons and assistants). Maybe you could call it "Shop Talk" to keep the suspicions down.

Then again if there are people on here who know there are teens (as young as 13) reading these threads and you have to worry about what someones saying under the topic delectable donut it may not help.

It would be very difficult to do this and would really restrict the number of people that are here. Most departments are not inclined to worry about verifying your employment. I suppose that they could require you to send in a fax or scan of your ID but a number of guys might object to that as well. In addition would that possibly exclude Constables? Some states like being a Constable is nothing more than a CCW holder and in others they are usually full-time LEO's! What about retired Officers? Many of us no longer live in our prior jurisdictions? You also have the Military guys, some Feds. etc that will not be here nor would you have those that are or have been through the police academy but not yet picked up. Like it is appears to be just fine. It is easy enough to figure out who is who most of the time.

It's too bad they can't require some people to just curb their language or attitude on here. I guess because I've been the target I think too much is being forgiven or rationalized. For those who just want to hang out and don't care what they say, they could stick to the PMs or friends thing. I know people need to vent ect and most understand to not take unfair advantage of their positions. Others seem to be just bullies.

Sues, grow a thick skin and simply ignore those that are bullies or use profanity. There is no requirement that you have to talk to everyone, just those that peak your interest or you feel treat you properly. Remember though that all of us, including myself, will sometimes go off on a rant. It is those that do it continuously that you rather not associate with.

It is the continuous things that can get to me. I think I'll consider getting a thick skin to mean ignore. Thank you.

Wouldn't mind a secure site, but then alot of the questions that are posted come from non-LE.... These questions bring those of us who are LE to the thread and we share ideas, and I get ideas from around the country that I would not have thought of due to a question that I probably wouldn't have asked... Soooo, six of one, and half dozen of the other..
