Background Investigation nearly complete

Posted 23 days ago I am trying to become a dispatcher. I have taken the test, passed the oral board, passed the poly and am now in, what I hope is, the final days of my background investigation. My BI said he was going to pass it on to the hirinig sergeant yesterday, who would then give it to the Police Chief. I am feeling hopefull but don't want to get overally excited just in case it does not work out. Anyways, generally speaking does anyone have any idea how long it takes for the Chief to make the decison. I know you dont have a crystal ball but generally speaking, should it be much faster of a process than anything else so far? I am more than patient, I am just anxious to hear! Thanks! |

| Posted 23 days ago Generally a faster process then what you've already been through. But honestly, it really depends on the circumstances. For instance, amongst the factors looked at are the personnel needs (openings) and number 2 ... money. Can the department afford to hire someone. For instance, my department has openings as we are short from our authorized strength because of retirements. But...while they are in the hiring process, they are only putting together an eligibility list for future hiring, as they want to save the money right now for the budget. Good luck. | Posted 23 days ago Thanks for your response. The position has already been approved...money approved. My BI just said that once my file is presented to the Chief we wait to hear if he will give the thumbs up on me or not. Then training starts. Which I understand is the Police academy for 3 weeks or so...I had no idea dispatchers went to this but am excited (if given the opportunity) to attend. They have 4 openings for this position but after the polygraph they had only 2 people including myself left to proceed with. |
