| Posted 25 days ago Unlikely......Marjiuana use a year ago is a no go. You need 3-5 from last use of weed, depending on the department. What other drugs?.....anything else you pretty much done. Post an intro and read the TOUs. The only thing you have to do is die. |

| Posted 25 days ago Chances are very slim, especially if it's only been a year go. Good Luck however, and give it a try. "EVIL WINS IF GOOD DOES NOTHING" http://informedclub.com |

Nope...sorry...no chance to work in law enforcement any time soon. By the way, I'm sure no one has tracked your IP address but, if you hear a knock at your door in the next hour or so, I suggest you be very polite to the officials who are waiting to talk with you... | Posted 25 days ago Marijuana use about a year ago? How much?, How long a period of time? Any other drug use?....bottom line is you will need a minimum of a 3-5 year window with absolutely no marijuana use before any LE agency would even consider your application, and even then you would have to shine so high above the other candidates who have no drug use in their past that your chances are pretty slim as far a getting hired. Don't think that you can hide that past from the background investigator either, you lie.....you're gone! "If everyone is thinking alike, someone isn't thinking."

| Posted 25 days ago Asking this question here is like going to the NAACP website and saying "I burned a few crosses before, but can I still be a member of the NAACP?" |

| Posted 25 days ago Each department has their standards. The 10 year gap was good however, a year ago on weed not so good. Decide where you want to apply and ask for a list of requirements. I feel you have a chance myself however, you will need to give it some time. |

| Posted 25 days ago You do not provide a lot of information. What type of drug(s), how much, how often. With the little information you provided you cannot expect much back. | Posted 24 days ago Is prior use as a minor considered? Ten years ago for someone not in the field may be before the 18th b-day. Is that something that departments still consider as a disqualifier? |

Time helps. However, time is more a consideration when dealing with lesser crimes, such as a spotty traffic history, minor alcohol issues, job retention issues, etc. However, there are still certain crimes in every state that are automatic disqualifiers, 1 year ago, 10 years ago, or 20 years ago. For example, in MN, you cannot be convicted of any felony, any GM, and certain misd are also disqualifiers, such as assault, theft, etc. Contact your local PD or state licensing board to find the exact details. | Posted 24 days ago The ten years ago stuff, maybe, depending on what kind, how much, your age, state law, dept policies, etc. The pot last year, maybe if you stay clean from now on (3-5 years) and GROW UP.... You say you want to be a cop, so you go smoke pot??? DUH! These (your actions) scream immaturity, lack of discipline and the inablility to realize actions have consequences. Like someone else said, you lie to the background investigator or to any of the questions...forget it. They will find out! You will also have to SHINE very, very brightly. jimmy85 |

Drug use is not a statis crime like alcohol use, pre 18th. birthday drug use is still a disqualifier depending on the drugs. Evey day is just the same, I'm chasing rainbows in the rain. AWB nickname "Wiz" |
