OK, I know Oakley has the www.usstandardissue.com website where officers get a discount. I have tried on the prescription clear lens glasses (everyday wear, NOT sunglasses or shooting glasses) and found that when I look down, the glasses move down (but not off). So I sent Oakley an email asking if they had any pairs that either have 1) more tension on the ear pieces that the glasses will not move in active times (chasing subject, fighting, sweating on hot day, ect.), or 2) ear pieces that hook around the ear like normal glasses. The rep gave me a list of sunglasses. Sounded like a marketing ploy.

So my question is: 1) does anyone know of quality prescription glasses that officers/military officers currently use and like (and will stay on my face), 2) should I spend most of a paycheck paying the $250 for the frames + the $150 (at least) for the lenses, or 3) go to walmart and get a pair of cheaper glasses that I can afford to be broken, but at less then half the price?

Ever look at the Wiley-X line of RxGlasses? The side pieces are interchangeable from goggles to regular...you can also pop out the lenses for shades and regular glasses as well. I was issued a pair of Wiley-Xs for my first deployment. They're very durrable, my only complaint is that they fog up a lot- had to modify the eye-piece a bit by cutting more holes in it (that was when I tried to wear them like goggles). But then again, Afghanistan gets a little hotter than your everyday city does (unless you're in Arizona).
