I just started the process to become a Deputy U.S. Marshal through the FCIP program.  I was hoping to discuss with other who are in the same process the steps they have gone through and where they are at in the process.

Im in the process also. I'm a region seven applicant. So far I've completed everything except for the FIT Test. I've been working out everyday trying to prepare.

I heard that they were running 14 classes through also. I've been browsing the forums on officer.com and 911jobforums and some members have already gotten class dates. I think the next class begins on Nov 11th.  How far are you in the process?

I'm in Region 5, which is the Northern and the Eastern District of Texas.  I have a good friend who is also in the FCIP for Region 7.  I believe he is waiting to do the FIT as well.

I know that you have to pass the FIT 6 months prior to attending the academy.  Once you get an offer and an academy is on-line for start, you'll get about a 2 week notice for your FIT.

I spoke with the Marshal of the Eastern District of Texas, this week.  He just got back from a conference of all the Marshals.  They discussed the FCIP.  Congress approved 500 new Deputy positions and they have funding for 14 academies.  Things look good.

Wow!  They're not taking their sweet time on this.  That is awesome.

 

Have you heard anything yet?  I've taken my drug test and I'm just waiting for the FIT test call.

I've been viewing the forums of officer.com and a few guys have already taken the FIT and are on track to go to the December class.  All I know is that the waiting is getting to me.  It seems like progress has come to a standstill.
