sidenote: took exam 8132, scored 96 buuuut my list # is 652 out of like 6700 applicants. i jsut took the correction officer exam for ny...hope i did great! desperately needs a job while i finish my BS in Crim Justice....

I've been reading around, and I keep seeing that it looks like 2011 April or July .. .either way, it's 2011 it "looks like".. .. ..In the meantime, go to school and any other training......keep busy and the faith!!! it's going to happen!!!... . .I'm going back to school and probably go to Airborne school....to keep busy and in shape!!!.....that's the thing....so many folks quit after the first two weeks which is really sad...since you have folks (like myself) that wants this sooooo bad and is ready!!!.. . .if you finished basic...then Police Academy will really not be that serious....

 Hello everyone, I to took that exam back in October '09. I passed but my list number is 4672, I have not been called for any additional testing or interviews. Does anyone know how long it might take? 

 Classes are usually january and july.  A class is graduating now well end of december, and it was a big class, so theoretically another class should be january.  I am not certain they will be up to this list yet though for that class, so more likely july if that, again depending on size of classes or freezes.  I would get all your stuff done, make sure all is up to date get all your paper work ready.  For the actual academy they literally call you the night before it starts and you are told to report.  Best of luck to all of you, my BF took this test to so I am hoping everyone gets called soon.  90 % of my clients at my job are NYPD and they really have no clue how its gonna go . 

I took 8132 as well...I've yet to even receive one call regarding anything. Any updates?

Honestly, i feel i've waited enough. I'm seriously leaning towards going into the Military to get my career started. i know that whatever years i put into the Military will be deducted from the years needed to retire, so its really tempting right now.

Seeing how the NYPD has started smaller and smaller classes do you think it would be wise to take the exam again ? Reason is for this exam 8132 my list # is 4XXX by the time that's called the 4yr period might be done . I was originally called to start the NYPD about 3 years back, but at that time the starting salary was $25,000 which I couldn't live on so I cancelled after my medical . If I knew then what I know now I would have hung in there and would have been benefiting off the retro pay ( Thats Life ) I guess

For those of you who believe that the Military will jump start your career your not alone , I thought that way also UNTIL I was half way through the joining process and saw that they were full of  sh*t . My recruiter promised me a MP job (Military Police) then told me they were all filled; I should take a Desk job in the meantime . You can understand my frustration because depending on your (MOS) military of service determines the civil jobs you will get when your home as well as your rank and your pay . I decided not to join after I found out that 70% of the promises either weren't true or depending on things such as: if you relocate you get a sign on bonus or if you go to school for XYZ you get reimbursement little fine-line things of that sort . You have to score high on the ASVAC exam also or they will have you cleaning tables. This was for the ARMY reserves and the minimum time to serve is 6years. You can be deployed anytime overseas(No -Good) That one weekend a month crap get it out your head if they need you -you have to go or be blacklisted meaning not even the local bodega will hire you for security .

I hope that this is true... However, I have my doubts. Once letters/phone calls start going out for candidates to come in for processing concerning this exam number,  then I will be a believer.

Hi guys I took this exam and I have a few questions to ask.

How many recruits to they have in one class? What is the highest list number they would hire from?

Also what do they look for in a interview? I was honorable discharge from the navy but I feel like that won't be enough. I have no college degree
