This is detailed information on what to expect for Mini-Medical. Cannot be more detailed than this:


Be there 6:30am. Stand on a line outside the building. It really doesn't matter your place on line. They send everyone home at the same time they wait for everyone to finish. You fill out paper work. Asking you questions about gun possession and any arrests since first medical if you moved any new arrest or moving violations. If nothing has changed since that first medical then it's easy street. If anything has changed thy will give you extra paperwork. Then the medical staff comes and gives you medical paperwork. Any sicknesses diseases injuries since last time. Make sure you don't lie because when u go to academy a doctor will examine you and if you fail or any reason they boot you . Then they go and take hair sample. If your hair on your head is short then they shave below the knee. You put your leg on a table and they basically dry shave your leg and they're falls on medical tissue paper that's on the table. They split the hair into 3 envelopes and they seal that **** up super official with fancy red tape and you initial it and date it. They take the hair based weight not length. So if your hair is short then they simply shave more. You take the samples and bring it to another room where some cop takes it they FedEx it to California. Hair sample test gets done by 2 separate labs. They liquefy the hair and they both test it. 1 lab doesnt know what the other lab results are. But all this gets done the week after not same day since it goes to California. If nothing has changed since first medical and you don't do drugs (test checks up to 3 months back of drug use) then this is the easiest step of all the NYPD steps you will ever do. Total time we were there was 6:30 am to 1pm.
