| Posted about 1 year ago @ Law22 Being academically discharged may not be an issue...if u have so many credits why the dismissal?? this is what they are wondering...dnt wanna get private but if you completely failed out that may come across as an issue to them....i mean the academy is heavily academic...i would just keep touching bases with your inv so your not in the dark abour ur status...thats the only thing i can think of... for those wondering about passing psych....my inv told me she doesnt have that info and some ppl have inv that tell them whether or not they pass...idk wats what but mine told me that if something comes up they contact you...so no word, no worries..n u can take the jst before psych bcuz they can give you your date the day u take ur test so that doesnt always mean you passed your psych... |

| Posted about 1 year ago @ Vmaimone. when you go to the psych oral inteview DON'T I REPEAT DON'T admit to anything thats not on record. for example, have you ever had a fight? the answer is NO, have you ever smoke weed? NO, do you drink alcohol? NO. Again if you haven't got any summonses regarding these questions dont admit to it because they will burn you for it. They are not looking for honesty, there looking for red flags so they could attack you and DQ you quick. I just wish i would known this before my interview, maybe i would have pass.
Good Luck Bro |

| Posted about 1 year ago @vmaimone. I would tell you to be honest. I went through it and passed. Told them that yes I do drink every once in awhile. She asked how often. I said if I have one or two beers a week it would be a lot. She asked when did I have more to drink that would cause me to be more than buzzed. I said my wedding day. I said that I smoked weed once with my friends. I told Her I didn't like it and never did it again. She still Passed me. I think it really depends on how you answer the questions. If you say you never drank alcohole they know your lying right there. I passed my oral about 2 months ago. Recently 2 guys from the nypd came to my house and checked my residency and talked to my neighbors about me. And I know they sent a letter to my current job asking about me. All I have left is the mini medical and July class here I come. Good luck on your psych. Just remember if you do lie about something and they find out or they already know your done and can kiss this job good bye. |

| Posted about 1 year ago @jtang215. I haven't got the letter yet, but trust me is coming. From what i hear and read no one survives psych review. It sucks that someone sits down with you for an hour and think they know who you are. |

| Posted about 1 year ago @Jrod4121 I don't think lying about everything you have ever done will make you pass. They can very easily pick up on lying and that's how people get DQ'd. I admitted to things, including drinking when I was underage, and I passed. The truth comes out a lot easier than making up a lie and if you can explain yourself and prove to be a better individual today, you should have no problems. |

| Posted about 1 year ago @glassjawkide. Well i guest your right, but honesty didnt work for me. What i want to know is if im still on psych review, will my investigator still go on with my backgoround check. Cause if she does i think it will help show that im a better individual now. |

| Posted about 1 year ago Thank you Blue917 . It ended up working out I was on review, but then I guess the psych received my transcript n took me off. I met with my investigator who was super nice. I was surprised. i completed the written and oral psych passed. I am pretty much done with everything except I have to retake the jst second week in may. I completed everything and had a lot of time left over but that damn trigger pull after like 9 on my strong hand it just froze up was horrible I couldn't believe it. I did the tutoring, and it actually helped alot! And im going to to do it again before the next jst. I been practicing my hand grips and they say the best thing for problems with the trigger pull are arm curls. i am a female and im going to be doing them everyday 100s hahah i cant believe how hard it was to pull that trigger!! does any one know how heavy it is tha actual trigger? |

Thank don't worry it's not all over if you are out on review. I find it ridiculous that a one time meeting determines who you are it boggles my mind. I was on review for about a month and every day i called the candidate service number and asked them politely if i was still on. One day i called they just said passed instead of a problem. You are better off keep callin the candidate service to find out ur status, if you keep callin your BI she/he might start getting pissed. And they will still go with your investigation. Review is not a death sentence it just means they need more information or study you closer. A straight DQ is bad. Just start getting all your paper work together cuz it takes a while for your investigator. And when you bring it all, bring it together nothing missing and the investigator will really appreciates it, and is mostly likely to help more. |

| Posted about 1 year ago wow 12 pounds i better up my arm curls to like 200 a day actually haha. I flew everything els. It was horrible i had almost 45 seconds left at the trigger pull station and i just couldn't pull with my weak hand, But when i went to tuotoring they said i was over extending my fingers and that it was making harder. They also gave me the arm curl drills to do which honestly work a lot. I work out a lot i just don't do a ton of upper body. im female 5ft5 and 120 pounds so with the trigger pull being my issue im just focusing on upper body and curls. Also does any one know when you get called to do the mini med? is it right before you get hired or when the investigation is done? My exam is 8132 list 4***. |

| Posted about 1 year ago and as far as the oral psych be very careful about what you say. From what i have heard those psychs have quotas as well. And they are being pushed to DQ more ppl, and that they look for any little thing out of the ordinary. Esp since so many ppl are going for the job its easier to Be more picky with who they want to pass through or not. This is the way i was told do not say anything that is not on record. So if you go in some small trouble but it was never recorded and they could never find out don't say it. It's a weird game they tell you to be honest but as the same time to honest will get you in trouble. They are not your friends also so dont be fooled they might say "hey your in college you must go out and drink all the time" NOO be care full it's a trick to get you to say you are a big drinker and then in their eyes a raging alcholic. One more quick tip they say you dot have to bring anything to your psych however if i was you i would bring your school records unofficial it does not mater and your work history because they are gonna ask you on the top of your head how many credits in differnt years ect, and when i was there i couldn't remember everything that specific on the top of my head and he thought it was bad i couldn't remember every semester from 6 years ago. I was on academic probabtion and it was a big deal to him.i was put on review till he got the transcripts then he took me off after. also as far as employment just know all the years and everything as well. |

| Posted about 1 year ago Yes I agree with Law22 , 100% , if its not on record , its not to be mentioned. When they ask you a question answer dont elaberate and run off the topic . Answer and STFU, they will find any little thing to DQ you . I brought everything , when I said everythhig I mean the only thing I left was my front door. Ehe package you put together for your investigator make copies and bring there also , reason is if they ask you for something and you dont have , you will be on review (slows down the process) until you can bring or fax to them and then play the game of calling to see if they recieved it. I passed my JST on the first run ... thank God , drink a 5hour energy and work on ur running . I dont find the gun bad @ all dont know wht ppl struggle with it , u finished the test so pull that trigger , pull say to yourself u havent come this far to fail now plus sitting hungry for the JST in that audotuim is nerve racking . pull , pull , pull Awaiting mini Med :) Inbox me if you have more questions

thats great SimPD !! all you got left is mini med hello july I am going to drink 2 of those 5 hour energy drinks, and i will be using my left hand for everything to strengthen it. I know i cant figure why my left finger was so weak i work out, i snowboard, surf, ect...so im rele active i don't get why that of everything stopped me. But you know what its like the instructor at the tutoring told me if you want it bad enough you will get it! And when i take it again in begin of May i will be ready! |

| Posted about 1 year ago Yes Law 22, im guessing your a woman, because MOST women have the hardest time with the trigger, You can practice with a water gun filled to the rim. upper body strentgh helps with the push / pull machine not sooo much with the gun however. While draggin the dead weight keep your trigger fingers free and do a nice open /close , open/ close with your hands as you walk to the station it will get u ready . DONT crack your fingers/ knukles for a week this weakens them, ppl dont realize this. I could shoot that gun 100times both hands and not blink... I have never cracked my fingers in my life and im a average size female.
You will pass the JST !! sucks they had no dates in April so hurry because you want to get into July class, dont stop ... keep determained.

| Posted about 1 year ago Hello All, Im new to this forum. I just need to know if anyone is on the same boat as me. I took exam 8132 and finished everything: APD5, Medical, Psych, Interview, JST, and met with my BI and everything went ok. Just waiting for the Mini-Med ?? Anyone else on the same Boat? Does my chances sound good??
There is no word on how big the class will be in JULY2012. The person that runs the recruitment division said so himself, so disregard all the rumors (no one knows yet). By JUNE we should have an idea know how big the class will be, considering that is when the New Fiscal Year starts for the city. FYI... |

and exactly everyone has to learn to keep quiet n stop giving every detail. They don't care your being honest. They care if they can find any reason to DQ you. Also FYI it didn't happen to me but a couple of ppl that went in after me for the psych it did they asked alot about fb i got rid of mine i had nothing bad on it, but didn't want to deal with the head ache of any thing. When i went to my BI She had me fill out a social networking paper explaining if i have it, and if i don't why i don't. Your allowed to have it but if you don't want a future drama i would get rid of it for now.
