From what I have read, the supreme court ruled that we are not civily liable for chases the ends in a injury/death. From what I understand (read) was that if the actions taken by the police to end the pursuit do not "shock the consence", you are imune from being sued. It seemed kind of broad, which was why I wanted to see what others thought about it.

P.S. If I'm wrong about this somebody correct me.

The Court says: The car chase that respondent initiated in this case posed a substantial and immediate risk of serious physical injury to others; no reasonable jury could conclude otherwise. Scott's attempt to terminate the chase by forcing respondent off the road was reasonable, and Scott is entitled to summary judgment. The Court of Appeals' decision to the contrary is reversed.

The case is a 2005 case that was heard in 2007 and it is called TIMOTHY SCOTT, PETITIONER v. VICTOR HARRIS No. 05-1631 SUPREME COURT OF THE UNITED STATES 127 S. Ct. 1769; 167 L. Ed. 2d 686; 2007

I would suggest that you read the case at http://www.law.cornell.edu/supct/html/05-1631.ZO.html or just Google TIMOTHY SCOTT, PETITIONER v. VICTOR HARRIS and read some of the other sites.

Hope this helps!!!
