Hello all. My name is Margaret and I've always been interested in the history of the lawman. When growing up my brother and I headed for the downtown theaters and loved the action of the Westerns. Most of the movies had law enforcement officers known as Sheriffs, because the Wild Wild West prevailed and the agencies stretched out and probably strung out with the likes of Jess James, COle Younger, Jim and the Younger boys. Then along came 40s & 50s and we saw movies with Dick Tracy, Robert Stack played Eliott Ness and he was good. Then came the Baby Face Nelson. Bonnie and Clyde and funny but in those days especially the boys, they pullled for the wrong side, if they came from homes that perhaps had domestic violence or had domestic problems I noticed this. And usually they were the bullies on the school playground!! So there ya go??? SO WHAT SAY YOU??   Oh, Ieft out Audie Muprly!! My favorite. A few years before that nobody could match draw with RANDOLPH SCOTT. WHOO HOOO...

Officer Down and those who serve dedicated to the serving the public good.

New York City Sheriff's Office formed in 1626, if you are referring to the U.S.A.

Th "Father of Texas" Stephen F. Austin first referred to this group as the Rangers in 1823, for their duties compelled them to range over the entire country, thus giving rise to the service known as the Texas Rangers. Its the oldest statewide LE agency in America.
