I'm looking at polarized Oakley Standard Issue (the ones made specifically for LE/military) Half Jackets but am open to suggestions on what you use and what has worked, and what hasn't

Thanks

Oakley Flak Jackets are a very good alternative.  If you're an LEO, you can go to www.usstandardissue.com/default.aspx and get up to a 50% discount on them.  You'll have to fill out a form to qualify, but it's worth it.  US Standard Issue is Oakley's law enforcement / military division.

Nothing beats Maui Jims in sunny environments! Of course at 200-300 bucks a pop, you have to be careful not to put them on your cruiser seat when you exit the vehicle and sit on them when you renter the vehicle. (Or so I am told.)

Oakley...it's the only way to go!!  usstandardissue.com is a great site, I religiously wear the Oakley Half Jacket XLJ polarized blacks. For only about 75 bucks you can't go wrong! Sometimes I catch myself still wearing them when it's dark out, they are very comfortable and besides...the sun NEVER sets on a badass! :-)

I personally have a pair of Native polarized.  They have the life time warrantee as well as the interchangeable lenses.  Works good for SWAT stuff, night patrol and the road jobs during the day.

Polarized Half Jacket XLJ's for me as well.  I've been wearing them for about 6 years now on duty and have nothing but good things to say.  The lenses are interchangable as well, so you can use the same frames multiple lenses.  The new Flak Jackets are very simmilar, but so far usstandardissue.com does not have them with polarized lenses.  I find working day shift polarized lenses are a must for knocking the glare off of the computer screen as well as other things you come in contact with.

I have to agree no matter what style you get, there is no substitute to  wearing  Oakley Products. Oakley provides the best sunglasses made. It is even better if you sign up thru Oakley's LEO/MD and receive that great discount. My wallet  feels better now and so do my eyes. www.USStandardIssue.com

Take a look at Wyley-X they make a good line of sunglasses with decent ballistic protection as well as UV pro. I had a pair for a few years and took them over ton Afghanisatan with me and worked great. Only others that's worth the money are the Oakley'.

BIG BUMP.

I've worn the exact same for years and now since the  http://www.usstandardissue.com/default.aspx site has been posted on PL recently, I'm saving a ton of money on extra lenses. I'm afraid one day Oakley will decide not to sell this "model" anymore and do away with them. So I'm stocking up!

I use Oakley Juliets (non polarized), i bought a pair of Serenghetis but they are polarized and make the laptop hard to see in the car. Polarized also make it hard to see the LCD on the radio and on the AM/FM radio.

Oakleys are the way to go. I only started wearing them last year and the difference is amazing. They are brilliant.

I agree. Every pair of "good" glasses I have had I have lost or destroyed. I buy cheap polarized glasses work fine for me and I don't mind when I break em or lose em.

I used to do that until I realized I lost/broke them often enough that I ended up spending more $$ on the cheap sunglasses than I did the more expensive ones.

Me too, Now my "expensive" glasses last at least 3 to 5 years, my cheap ones maybe 2 months.
