Posted 2 months ago A recent story made me wonder. If someone is a member here, LEO or otherwise and are convicted of a felony or certain violent or other notable misdemeanors, should the PL staff close their accounts? I say yes but was curious what others thought. Pain is weakness leaving the body. Obstacles are what we see when we take our eyes off the goal. |

| Posted 2 months ago LEO for certain, they would have their LE status removed anyway. Others, don't really care one way. I say that only because when a person signs up, there would be no way to tell if they had a previous conviction or not. Where the hell you been hiding anyway? Good to see you are OK Beyond fatigue lies compensatory hypertrophy |

| Posted 2 months ago Yep. LEOs should have their status revoked and accounts permanently sanctioned. And what DFrost said for civillians. Hi KSP! O Captain! My Captain! |

| Posted 2 months ago Actually I been down your way a bunch, almost called you the other day, I had a few hours to kill before dropping my little girl off at the airport. Anyway I made this post after reading the story about our dispatcher member who is suspected of arson. I'm not going to try and prematurely convict her I'll stand back and watch what happens in court, but if convicted I think it would be fitting to have her account suspended or deleted. I realise there are some here with convictions but when we have a well known member end up in a front page story like that........... Kind of like when LULUSGT got in trouble for that thing with that little sheep. I'm just kidding, just kidding....it wasn't very little. Pain is weakness leaving the body. Obstacles are what we see when we take our eyes off the goal. |

| Posted 2 months ago I agree with DFrost. There is no way to keep them from coming back but at least they won't have the gold star.....for all it means. Experience is something you gain just after you've needed it..

| Posted 2 months ago She hasn't been convicted, she has some real problems that need med attention, but, to be abandoned by all you guys.........she may have a lot to say about what happened.........I just don't know. However, people who are convicted with badges, should never be able to post a badge again........IMO. "You are part of the night, just like me. | Posted 2 months ago I think KSP was talking more in the hypothetical. I would guess her account was only temporarily sanctioned pending outcome of the case or her status. She was one of my friends, and I certainly hope there is some other explantion. Like I said in another thread, I can only hope for the best for her as well as all those involved. | Posted 2 months ago I think KSP is just using her as an example. He is not asking specifically if she should be banned. Experience is something you gain just after you've needed it..

| Posted 2 months ago I don't know the person, I don't know the history. I DO know that if I were accused of something I would feel quite angry if my 'fellow' workers did NOT give me an opportunity to make my case. I also believe that PL should NOT become a forum for defense strategies for those who are guilty of felonies etc.. But how do we know until the court is finished. I think that before a sanction, the accused should have the opportunity to post a 1 paragraph explanation and then freeze the account form preventing an ongoing forum pending disposition of the courts, all happy all given an opportunity to defend themselves. As it's been stated time and time again, we must live by a high standard, this , I believe, accomplishes all goals. Just think, she is PROVEN innocent, what do you say when you see her the next time ? Gee sorry, I thought you were guilty ? Or better yet, I was there for you , you knew that RIGHT? ALL BS, my saying for LEO's is SUPPORT YOUR BROTHER UNTIL YOU CAN'T..IT means that we give them the benefit of the doubt until all doubt is removed !!!! Has that happened here ???? |

| Posted 2 months ago Hmm, so if Ramos and Compeon had an account here they should be banned? |

| Posted 2 months ago If CONVICTED ,,, YES... I guess I missed that at the first reading ?Sorry. It is the job of the courts. LEO's are enforcement, sometimes it hurts, sometimes(most of the time) it's rewarding. It still stands, if we don't hold ourselves to a standard, how can we hold others to that standard ? If we don't believe in the legal system, how can we hold others accountable to the same system ? No doubt, Ramos and Compeon got a raw deal and were releases w/o a full pardon (stinks) but they finally had THEIR day and should ( in theory be re instated). I don't know of anyone who feels otherwise. |

Correct, it was her case that made me pose the question, but this was not about her, just people in her situation. Pain is weakness leaving the body. Obstacles are what we see when we take our eyes off the goal. |

| Posted 2 months ago The dispatcher in question has had her account suspended. I agree let's see what the courts do before passing judgement. I think that anyone that has been convicted of a felony and is on the site should be sanctioned or suspended. | Posted 2 months ago One could be convicted of a misdemeanor and still be a law enforcement officer. Prior to my retirement I hired an officer who had been convicted of possession of marijuana. His fine was less than a speeding citation. Would you really want to ban someone for a minor infraction? |

| Posted 2 months ago I think those w/ known convictions should not be here. However this is public website and I don't think anyone should doing backgrounds on anyone else. Just if it becomes known through the media or others means. It would potentially bring undue embarssment to PL if known felons are members. Not to mention many agencies have polices about associating with known felons/offenders. Would being on a website count as associating? I don't know. If so then many of the LEO's would be force to leave then it would be renamed CROOKLINK then Lulu would be alone w/ the known felons and the sheep. Sorry, I had to add to the Lulu sheep crack the temptation was too great. You have the rest of you life to solve the problem, how long your life lasts depends on how well you do it. -Clint Smith |

| Posted 2 months ago What is the basis, reason for this question?? If a non-leo has had a minor misdemeanor charge in their lifetime but is turning their life around, you're saying should be banned from PL? That's silly.

| Posted 2 months ago We need to take each case one by one, Lets remember she has not been convicted Yet so like any Job Suspended till the out come, Then it will be Sarges call but remember each case has a story remember we had another Brother here who was Convicted because of a accident at home Never his fault and who is a great friend to many here, so if we Ban any Felony all will I think you get the Point, I do not know her case But if they just went out and Burned a Place down then Yes but if they left the pan on the stove just an example, But KSP494 Has made a good Point If someone just plan out commits a crime then well they need to be gone but remember not by Accident or an officer getting convicted by politics like our Border Patrol brothers that went to jail for shooting a Moron in the a@% who really deserved it So again Case by case would be the best bet. Only God knows his plans for all of us and why we might meet in life |

| Posted 2 months ago Here's something to think about... How many of the almost 80,000 current members of this site are convicted felons? This site is public any one can view it and anyone can become a member, how would you know if an ex-con was wandering among you? There is only that little star for LEO's and whoever else the administration deems should have access to the "restricted" areas, there is no little ball and chain insignia for convicts and ex-cons. Don't forget this is the internet, you could be talking to a dog. Ne conjugare nobiscum. There's no "I" in team... But there's two in idiot. |

| Posted 2 months ago Don't we have a member that due to a HORRIBLE accident, lost his LEO status, his job and his family? I personally don't think he should be kicked off the site because of that.
