A couple of years ago, my best friend and I were returning home from a late night of shopping. It was the middle of the winter, snowing very hard, and the roads were terrible. There was hardly a car to be seen. We saw a county patrol car coming toward us and naturally, when we passed, she and I both looked in the rearview mirrors to see where he was going.

At that moment, we witnessed him attempt a donut in the road to head back in our direction. In doing so, he slid off the road and down into the ditch, buried in snow. He wasn't going to get out without help.

Since I was driving a 4-WD, we backed up to him, got out and asked if he needed some assistance. He said, "no, just go on, I'm fine." We could see that clearly wasn't the case, so we pressed on. "We insist."

It looked like an easy push job, so the two of us girls got behind the patrol car, high heels and all, and gave this fresh dep instructions on how to get out of the snow. We shouted instructions to him, "rock it, don't spin the tires..." and we managed to push him out.

We asked him where he was headed in such a hurry that he got stuck like that. He said "that's not important." We asked if there was anything else we could assist him with. He said, "You can go now, but this little incident is between us."

It was tough, but we controlled our laughter until we got back in our SUV. We never did find out why he whipped around like that, but since we were just barely creeping along with no reason to be pulled over, figured he was just showing off!

In our jurisdiction, the silence would have lasted about 5 minutes. The story would have been all over the street, and someone would be trying to use it to keep from going to jail.

You both were too kind. This would spread like wildfire...and the story would evolve to become even funnier- in most agencies. Thanks for sharing this story.

Our department would have taken pictures and displayed them proudly in the locker room... and until someone else did something dumber than you, you will be the center of all of the jokes... that's being in a police locker room though!!

I got myself in an incident somewhat along those lines and it was all over the radio before I was even on the road. Stay Safe
