I say a 6 pack of St.Pauli Girl oughtta start things of nicely, no sense in staying sore over things - everyone knows SGT. Crowley was in the right and that he is the one that deserves an apology. However; with that being said, who wouldn't wanna go and have a beer at the White House [regardless of the President serving at the time] just so they can say they did it. My .02, I think it's pretty cool.

Here's my thoughts is the example that the President is setting for the teen ager of this country.  It is okay to call someone stupid when you don't know all the facts.  To call it racialism.  Now to show my feeling towards you and parties involved, come to my home and have a beer.   Think a better choice could have been made besides beer.  Now to have both parties to agree on the beer is something else.

Do they have a beer named "asshole" or "foot in mouth".  That's what potus and Gates should be drinking.

You're right. He absolutely should have recused himself from commenting at least until he was a lot more informed than he was and perhaps for all time given his relationship with Professor Gates. Even the most staunch supporters I've spoken to are very surprised by Mr. Obama's actions in this case.

I think the whole question of which beer is moot. They apparently already determined that they shared an appreciation for beer--so there's nothing wrong on that part. However, I don't know about any of you, but when I invite someone to a gathering I ask everyone what kind of beer they prefer and make sure noone is left out--even if 10 people agree on 1 beer and I have 1 person who really likes that really obscure brew, I make sure I have a few bottles of it available for them. It's all part of being a gracious host.

I agree with the sentiment, but even the professional Sgt. Crowley is, it might not be wise to have someone in your protection detail that you've called the "s" word. That's putting it mildly--I'm sure there will be some other colorful ways others will respond to this suggestion.

Why not Bud Light? Everybody likes it and it's a social beer that men usually partake in when they have a "get together". Just because this is going to be held at the White House doesn't mean the beer has to be top notch expensive. Bud all the way!

Oh!!!!! Another thought...  there's a beer on the market that the can will turn blue when it's at it's peak of coldness (can't remember which beer company makes it), but also this beer better have a bulls&*t indicator on the can when things start to turn to bulls&*t, which I think this meeting is already going to be right from the beginning.

Why not plain iced tea?? I've never heard of such an odd get-together, but with this president shouldn't be surprised I guess... Not sure I like the message it sends to try solving problems by having a beer...

I think they should ask each what their favorite beer is and when they get there, make them switch.  Are my taxes paying for this?

This is NOTHING more than a press moment for the President to get his white voters back again. And I think....remember it's I think..Crowley should not go to this "beer get together". It's not for him, it's for the President and Gates has never said he was wrong in any way even with the 9-11 tapes being released to the meia and publc.

I do not agree with this "beer get together" it's a...well I won't say it.

I like that this is going to happen, but I hope it doesn't continue to be blown way out of proportion.  Hopefully it will end the controversy, but I doubt it.

I would choose a bottle of tequila or jack daniels so that i could blame it on the al-al-al-al-al-alcohol  when i tell obama to shut up and listen to someone who actually cares and puts their life on the line daily.  This is a damn publicity stunt and i hope the officer is on his toes the entire time.  Smells like a set up to me!

I'm happy Crowley is going and I hope he speaks his mind about his disappointment about the POTUS speaking without the knowledge of what happened.

Some of the rest of yall have said it and I agree. This could turn bad if there is a hidden agenda. Get an officer to a prestigious place offer him a beer. As he is leaving have DC PD intercept him and run him through intox. Officers name would be tarnished and the other two would walk away smelling like roses.
