| Posted 4 months ago I dont know if you have quit smoking before but I have known quite a few (never picked up the habbit myself). From the people I know I have learned that you will always crave it. You may not have the physical dependency but the mental urge never entirely goes away. I know people that quit 20+ years ago and still wish they could light up. On a side note, the guy I am currently training smokes like a friggin chimney but he is in better shape than me! Heh. |

| Posted 4 months ago Shock shut the hell up man, you'll be ok. Stop mind fu*king yourself. Stop smoking, your a Marine so stopping smoking should be a walk in the park dude. You got it brother so stop worrying “This is my Shield. I bear it before me in battle, but it is not mine alone. It protects my brother/sister on my left, it protects my city. I will never let them out if its shadow, nor my city out of its shelter…." |

| Posted 4 months ago If you want the tobacco but you want to save your lungs then snus! It's also cheaper (Well it's cheaper if you order it direct from Sweden. there aren't any stupid taxes.) Get yourself some Skruf Stark and take it from there. Just don't double up, you won't be able to stand. |

| Posted 4 months ago Good luck to you, Shock...Hopefully the chief is smart enough to see past one small mistake and see what kind of officer you would be. If he does, I am sure you will be in. As for the smoking...I know where you are coming from....It has been 6 months since I had a smoke. I also used the Chantix, but only used it for two weeks. I found that I had a VERY short temper and I was ready to kill everyone at the drop of a dime. I had tried quiting several times before and I think the difference was that I was ready this time (I was not trying to quit because my wife wanted me to or friends were telling me to like before). When you are ready, truly ready, you will be able to quit. Best of luck. People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men

Thanks man....I hope And with the smoking thing.....Im ready but Im not,,,,if that makes sense. I want to quit mostly for finicial reasons, money is tight as hell right now sinceI just got out and dont have a job and for obvious health reasons, but with the stress of trying to get into LE and get my life order, I tried and failed to quit. I honeslty like smoking though, I dont know why, it might be the nicotine talking right now, but thats where the aspect of I want to quit but i dont. I also could never get Chantix. I guess for the side effects reason or something, but they wont give combat vets chantix. I heard that chantix is really a anti-depressant or something like that and they dont wanna risk that with us cause they arent sure if we have PTSD or anything....Im not sure, thats just rumor, but I do know we cant get it, tried several times and the Doctors said no.....I wish I could, I have heard it works miracles as long as the side effects dont show up. The only thing you have to do is die. |

| Posted 4 months ago Shock.... go to Northerner.com and try a few different brands. You still get the 'ritual' aspect but it is better you don't smell and it's just easier. Well lös is a bit harder because you have to bake the prilla then after about thirty minutes you get mud mouth ect. So just get either General, Skruf, Ettän, Grovsnus or Lucky in the white portions. |

| Posted 4 months ago Shock, if you get on with that dept. it will give you the incentive that you need to quit, i have faith that you will do it. As i said in anther post quitting is easy, staying off is hard, esp when you hit stressful times. It's time to be a coffee addict like me, caffine is about as good as nicotine and no body objects to your drinking coffee. Start with lots of cream and sugar, you might eventually develop a taste for coffee. Evey day is just the same, I'm chasing rainbows in the rain. AWB nickname "Wiz" |

| Posted 4 months ago HA! What 3 people decided to vote NO on your question? I wouldn't even let the issue bother me if I were you. I bet police departments are more concerned of the fact that you do not smoke while on duty than anything else. What you do on your own time is your business.

Not to sure yet........I passed the written test and PT exam, however when we went back to the PD and got ready for the preliminary interviews I was reviewing the list of DQ's and found out if u had a Class C in the last 2 years ur DQ'd. Well I had a Class C PI a year ago. So I filled out the packet and when and talked to the officer. I told him I was prolly DQ'd and told him why, well he started talkin to the other officers and the Captain was standing their and asked what was going on, well he pulled me to the side and talked to the other officers and they wanted me to continue and then he asked to explain the whole thing from start to finish and the last thing he asked me was how long I was in Iraq. Well I told him and he said he would present my case to the Chief and recommend I be allowed to continue, since the Chief is the only one who can excuse my DQ problem. They scheduled me for the last slot on the Oral boards this coming tuesday and I would find out the Chiefs decsion on me. We started with 46 people and now were down to 22 people and they have 6 postions available. So I dont know where I stand......not sure how much influence a Captain has or how the Chief will take my Public Intox into account. I recieved about 4-5 weeks after I got back from Iraq. But I have another problem now....Im an idiot when it comes to the police process...........I would rather to go Iraq again if it would get me hired than do all the papperwork and what not, lol......Im about to post another question. The only thing you have to do is die. |
