Posted 4 months ago I just joined this group and I admire the NYPD. With its incredable number of officers of over 30,000, it is without a doubt a great department to work for in the field of law enforcement. The NYPD has a large number of job opportunities as well. From the Emergency Service Unit to the K-9 unit and mounted patrol to the harbor patrol the NYPD the most dedicated police department in the country. |

| Posted 4 months ago I hope it's okay that I joined this group. I am not an offiicer but an RN. I have legal experience and a few years ago got my master's in forensic psychology at John Jay. I have always been pro-cop. I moved to NYC when I was a teenager and was torn between being a cop or a nurse. RN won out...not so sure it was the best decision. I have been into forensics ever since Quincy! I went back to school to become a legal nurse consultant then on to John JAy. I had an externship at NYPD working on a blunt force trauma study. All the officers welcomed me and made me feel like I belonged there. Unfortunately, I found out NYPD doesn't use civilian profilers!... . I felt helpless after 9/11 and I am an RN with disaster training! President Bush started the volunteer corps after that so I joined the volunteer medical corps. Thank you for letting me join police link(even though I don't think I'm qualified!) |

| Posted 3 months ago I attended the NYPD graduation at Madison Square Gardens June 2007. It was so cool watching nearly 1000 men and women join the best police agency in the nation. I rode with a couple of officers in a marked unit and it was so neat. I am a NYPD wanna be. I found the citizens of NYC very friendly and the cops were very very cool. |

| Posted about 1 month ago Yes the N.Y.P.D. or was a great job. I know I did it for 30yrs..I came on in 1973. It's not what it once was with regards to having oneanothers backs. Nevertheless it is what it is!! Luv it or leave it. Apparently I did. Perhaps that is why I am soo dissapointed and discouraged that I can't help to get my son on the job. He made or they ,the psych.dept., construde a statement that he made wrongly the very 1st time he took the verbal psych.exam. He has since taken the verbal exam 3 other times. Each time , when it looks like he will succeed and pass, they go back to his very 1st exam results and deep six him. He has been trying to get on for 4 yrs.now. So I am making a plead to my brother officers out there. If anyone knows or has a contact in the med.unit/psych.dept., and can help my son overcome this obsticle. Please advise me. IYou can reach me at my email: aol.com">AMGUSMC@aol.com. Thank You Much! Ret. Det. A.Garcia |
