Posted almost 6 years ago Have you heard of the new Glock (or S&W, can't remember) that is specifically made for only the hnads of a cop, literally. The officer has to wear a watch or band that, when the gun is seperated within certain amount of inches, the gun locks up. Anyone know when this will be issued? |

Posted almost 6 years ago I read something about it in Popular Science a year or two ago. I've also read about one that the officer wears a ring on one of the fingers of his gun hand that sends an electric signal to the gun (developed by Colt, I think). Personally, I don't think they will be "issued" any time in the near future. I see too many possible problems.

Posted almost 6 years ago They have been working on this concept for years. As far as I know it is technology that still has not been perfected

Posted almost 6 years ago There was a company selling that technology back in the mid-70s. I knew one guy who had it installed on his S&W revolver, but it meant wearing a ring on either hand. And I don’t think that they ever perfected the technology. Better to spend your time and energy in “weapon retention” than in relaying on high tech gadgets. I preferred the Level III holsters, but we also trained for weapon retention in a fight.

Posted almost 6 years ago I didn't realize how far back they have been working on this. I hope they can perfect it.
