Posted over 5 years ago My duty weapon is now a dept. issued Glock 17 9mm. I've also carried a SIG P229 .357 (personal) on duty, but the guys at work wanted me to try the Glock. I must admit, love the SIG and the .357 round, but I shot much better with the Glock, so I switched. Just really don't care for the 9mm round.

Posted over 5 years ago Both weapons are fantastic peices of machinery. Both are reliable and both offer many options. (Caliber, size, accessaries...) The new Sig 250 looks promising for a variety of fits and officer hand sizes. The truth of the matter is: it comes down to personal prefference and what you can hit your target with. I have MANY guns in my arsenal. I carry mostly Sigs because it is what I like to carry. I spent my first 13 years in LE carrying a government issued Colt 1911 and loved it. But now I find the Sig fits my hand better and I shoot better with it. The Glock I tend to put my rounds low, left. But it is still a great tool. Try them all. Find the one that fits your hand and that you shoot well with. Take care of the weapon and it will function properly. Your life depends on the weapons working, but your life also depends on you being able to work the weapon.

Posted over 5 years ago OK! now, as i was saying, I much rather prefer a Glock over a Sig. I own both, but for comfort of carry and ease of use, as well as elegance. I choose Glock! Everything you do can get you killed, including doing nothing at all..

Posted over 5 years ago I have a P226 .40S&W. I trust it with my life and is my off-duty carry. It's accurate, and incredibly reliable. Never a malfunction and has very minimal parts to go wrong. The nice thing about the 229, 226, 239 is that you can shoot .357Sig or .40S&W just by changing out the barrel and uses same mags. (alternate barrel costs about 140.00) Both are great weapons in my opinion, but I am loyal to my SIG, and it feels great in my hand.
