I am going to test for a LEO for the Florida Highway Patrol July 29. My only concern is my military history. I was in the Marine Corps for 6 weeks. I got ELS (Entry Level Separation). I didn't get failure to adapt or anything like that. Its really a long story.

My recruiter told me that because of the Civil Service Act Form, My family could not be evicted, my car cant be towed and ALL my utility bills would be put on hold until i return. My spouse could even use the wages that i earned in boot. Just take my information to boot and have it directed deposited in my account. My recruiter had severely lied to me and my family.It left my family (girlfriend and my two little girls) without water, electric, and a roof. My car even got towed. I found out that i HAD to use the marine corp recruit bank account. I could not direct deposit my money into my joint account with my spouse. On top of that, I was the only one with a  job! So NO money was coming in while i was gone for 2 months.

After telling my story to....at least 5 SDI and 3 Capt's. They too could not believe what i was told. They said that he SSAF was for people that get drafted!! One DI ( a Kill Hat) told me to see the mad doc and tell them whatever i could..just get home to your family. So i came up with every story under the sun. Still they would not let me go home and get my family off the streets (well they went from friends house to friends house). They said they had to have a legal reason to send my home. So i told them that " I just cant take it anymore" And BAM! Those were the magic words. I was ELS and sent home in 2 weeks.

They did give me a ELS, Uncharacterized discharge, RE-3F re-enlistment code, Fraudulent Enlistment (prior medical history) and Erroneous enlistment and very nasty bus ride home with my war bag and some stamps.

To get to the question. Should i or should i not go to Orlando to take the test and risk humiliating myself? This is what i really want to do for the rest of my life. Maybe step up to U.S Marshall or Game Warden. Any information at all would be great. Would i be fine if i just explined what happend to me?

I was also told that since it was ELS (under180 days) i didnt have to ever list my military journey. Is this true?

I have discharge papers.  I couldn't read them until i was on the bus. ( didn't have time) When i finally did read the 80 something page packet. There was nothing in there about my story. I didn't get mad. I mean, do you think the Marine Corp would admit to any blame. NO WAY!!!

So the only proof that i have is a very nasty credit report

I was just one of those unlucky people you hear on the news about recruiters trying to do anything to enlist recruits and make there quota

Fruad elist / prior medical history (had counelsing when i was a young lad.) = enlisting and not leting my recuiter or MEPS know. Let it out during boot when i found out that everyone turned down my CSAF and told me that was for people getting drafted. So i told them the one thing that i knew could get me out. Oddly i got a re-3f code...so the wait time is up, and she is a nurse now. i was thinking about going back. Since i dont have to worry about bills.....anyways. Thanks.

You just hit the nail on the head....."I was going to go back, but I dont have to wrry about it anyways"....You one of the ones who wasnt joining for anyting more than a paycheck and benefits...prolly wouldnt of made it through bootcamp anyways...I saw ur kind get washed up all the time.

Do recruiters lie? YES....but u should still have some intiative to research urself....He told u u could stop bills in bootcamp? Any civilian could tell that was a crock of crap...he fed u a remixed version of the soldier/sailors act , which states during a deployment where u are over seas, u can put a hold on bills

Coheedisdead: You want a straight answer...yes, that is going to stand against you. Not only because of that slip of paper. But getting hired is a process I doubt you will endure. Most academies aren't a walk in the park either, IF you get hired. I've been through more than one academy and I've seen plenty of washouts. You admit you omitted vital information from the USMC, so that doesn't say much for your veracity. Integrity is something any department will look for.

Oh, so you have a DD-214? Considering the description of service is one line long, I wouldn't go barking about that too much. Shock, myself and many others here have considerably longer 214s. I bet you go around wearing a Marine tee-shirt or have a Semper Fi window sticker on your car.

Maybe I'm being harsh but seems like you're looking for someone to tell you your choices were alright and it will all be okay. You want to apply to a highly regarded LE agency and you are hoping they won't care about a fraudulent enlistment? Like me, I'm sure they want to know that they will be backed up by someone they can count on. So yes, that might just affect your application to any agency. I pull no punches. If I think someone has a chance, I will tell them so. If they are wasting their time, I tell them. You are wasting your time. Aspire to another line of work. Best of luck in whatever path you choose.
