Do backround investigators discriminate for any law enforcement agency?

What? Could you define the parameters of this question, as well as clarify its primary focus?

If you have passed everything, whats the hold up for getting into a class?

I don't even see how that relates to the first question. Are you asking in the background checks for LE Candiates are especially thorough?

10 years in the dept of corrections and a very clean record I would like to get out into the field instead of babysitting adults and minors. It's like they're looking for more, that's not there.

They may just simply have candidates they like better, or it is possible that the BG check turned up something inconclusive and they are digging around for an answer one way or the other.

What is there to like better? Avg is 90, I'm in great shape, I don't hang out with the wrong people, and I take care of my family the #1 thing to do.

Without knowing the ENTIRE candidate pool I cannot make a fair judgment. Like I said, it could be as simple as there was something inconclusive about the BG check and so they are looking for a resolution either way.

No problem. Without access to the report, I am really only making a cautious guess, but my advice for you is not to worry. Right now the situation is entirely out of your hands, so don't fret it if you don't have to.

I worked as a background investigator with my department and there are many reasons why you may be waiting to get into a class.
First you take the test, physical agility and written. Then oral boards. From there we combine the two scores. We start with the highest scores. We do the background. That is checking everything they wrote on the application, call their refrences, past employers, teachers in school, etc. We go to their houses and place of employment. During this we schedule polygraphs, psyc exams and medical exams. There is a meeting with our division captian. Then if the applicant has passed everything there is a meeting with our division Cheif. How fast you get through all this depends on how reliable the information is the applicant gave us and how quickly everyone gets back with us after leaving them a message. You'd be surprised how many references don't call back right away delaying the process. If the Cheif signs off on the applicant then comes the waiting game for positions in the academy. Our state only has one academy for the entire state for County and City agancies. State Patrol has their own academy. Each academy class has only so many openings and each agancy has to fight to get their applicant in. It is a 6 month academy and if you live over 50 miles away you live at the academy. If it is going to be a long wait we put you to work in our evidence room or some other meanial job until a position in the academy comes open. An academy class starts every 2-3 months. Ther could be any number of things that they are waiting on before you go to the academy. Call and ask your status.

Xavier ... Have you looked into your own background? When I applied to be a police dispatcher, I was lucky enough to have personally handed my application to the Communications Supervisor. When they did a background on me the had a possible match, but he was sitting in a prison for drug trafficing! Since then I have had to go to the state police and have fingerprint background ... they have supplied me with a letter to hand into every employer or anyone who would do a background investigation on me. Every 2 years the Dept of Homeland Security has to do a background check on us to update my suitablity package ... I even have to submitt the letter from the state police, every 2 years, I did my own background investigation, one problem has the same first, last, middle name, and birthday. The other has the same first and last name, ans every number but 2 of the first 3 numbers of his SS# are the same!
I also have a boss who has made it to the last part of the hiring process for the Secret Services Uniformed division, the whole process has taken 2.5-3 years. Since 9/11, most department are being very through!
