Do backround investigators discriminate for any law enforcement agency?

If you have passed everything, whats the hold up for getting into a class?

Yes.

10 years in the dept of corrections and a very clean record I would like to get out into the field instead of babysitting adults and minors. It's like they're looking for more, that's not there.

What is there to like better? Avg is 90, I'm in great shape, I don't hang out with the wrong people, and I take care of my family the #1 thing to do.

I worked as a background investigator with my department and there are many reasons why you may be waiting to get into a class.
First you take the test, physical agility and written. Then oral boards. From there we combine the two scores. We start with the highest scores. We do the background. That is checking everything they wrote on the application, call their refrences, past employers, teachers in school, etc. We go to their houses and place of employment. During this we schedule polygraphs, psyc exams and medical exams. There is a meeting with our division captian. Then if the applicant has passed everything there is a meeting with our division Cheif. How fast you get through all this depends on how reliable the information is the applicant gave us and how quickly everyone gets back with us after leaving them a message. You'd be surprised how many references don't call back right away delaying the process. If the Cheif signs off on the applicant then comes the waiting game for positions in the academy. Our state only has one academy for the entire state for County and City agancies. State Patrol has their own academy. Each academy class has only so many openings and each agancy has to fight to get their applicant in. It is a 6 month academy and if you live over 50 miles away you live at the academy. If it is going to be a long wait we put you to work in our evidence room or some other meanial job until a position in the academy comes open. An academy class starts every 2-3 months. Ther could be any number of things that they are waiting on before you go to the academy. Call and ask your status.
