The ammunition shelves are bare no matter where I look. In the sporting goods stores, hunting stores, and even the internet sites for ammunition sales display "out of stock" or "no back order". Some have said it's the rising price of metal that caused the prices to rise and the ammunition to flee the shelves. Others say it's the new administraion in D.C.  Others have said it's due to stock piling in case the economy really gets rough, and it becomes every person for themself. I'm not sure what the answer is. Whatever the cause, it's sure difficult to to plan out how many shooting  matches my son and I can attend this year. Also makes it rough to stay practice for working on the street. Anyone out there have any outlets that have a stock of 9mm or .45ACP that I could order from?

According to local stores they are selling it as soon as they get it in.  Locally many stores are limiting the amount of boxes each customer can purchase, 6 I believe.  I guess that gives more people a chance to get a few boxes.

I dont know if it is warranted, but many believe Obama is going to take away guns and ammo.  The economy going to hell is another reason..  The main problem is people are paranoid and when they find ammo they buy it all.  Yesterday I was tryng to find a box or two of 38 special and I got there right behind someone who bought the last 7 or 8 boxes. This happened twice.   It really pissed me off, because I would of only bought 1 or 2 because it is all I need. I am not afraid of arageddon. I almost said something to the guy because I thought maybe he would let me have 1 of his boxes to buy, but I didnt. I am sure he needs them for something important.   Metal prices have gone down, but manufacturer cant keep up with demand. Instead of cases at a time they are only getting a few boxes. Try Cabelas or Bass Pro for online ordering.  Or find the numbers for suppliers in your are and call every couple of days to catch them when a truck comes.

In my area 40 cal and 223 is almost scarce as chicken teeth.  Weve ordered ammo for the department and theres a six month wait.  Somebodys getting it.  I keep on hand what I need for personal use and I reload.  Dont know if the threats and worries of bans again is fueling the shortage but it is possible.  Large capacity mags are hard to find and as soon as some get in they are gone.  Not worried about that keep 15 15rd mags and 10 10 round mags.  Keep 5 30 rd. 223 mags on hand.

Pretty sure it has something to do with the fact that congress can't ban guns, so why not ban ammo? Unfortunatly, the Constitution doesn't say anything about the right to bear ammo. They are even thinking of banning reloading. This sucks!!! I'm about to buy my first handgun, and hopefully I'll be able to find ammo somewhere!
