It is difficult to always believe in God when you do the work we in Law Enforcement do.  It is hard to believe that any God would allow his children to act in the manner they do, and treat others the way they do.  It is easy to believe there is a Devil, because of the evil that men do.

I have seen horrors in my 20 years in law enforcement, as I am sure many of you have seen as well.  For me, it always hits hardest when the victims are children.  It is beyond my comprehension how someone can do the evil against children that I have seen.  Yet it is because of children, that I believe in God.  How sweet and innocent they are as small children, their eyes wide open, taking everything in for the first time.  The simple beauty of children, how their hearts beat, their eyes sparkle, the way they laugh, the way they move.  Everything about children I love, until of course they become corrupted by their parents, or by other circumstances that send them down the road towards evil.

I have two beautiful children, one 3, one 8 months.  They keep me very busy, and I am amazed every day by the things they do.  They are my miracles, my reasons to believe in the existance of God.  Whenever I think of all the things that had to go just right, just for them to take their very first breaths, I believe.

I hope all of you have something that helps you believe when times are difficult, like they are for so many right now.  I have my two miracles that help me, I wish the same for you.

I've always known God existed and then, when I was older and more mature, He grew a relationship within me that has sustained me through bad times and good!!!!

I've had some pretty tough times in my life with my health and seeing loved ones suffer but I've never doubted that God exists or that He loves me and cares for me and my life.

Blessings!

You can believe in God and work in LE like we do.  The bible is fulfilling and all of the things with children, men, women, evil terrorist, wars and rumors of wars, famines and earthquakes etc have been prophecied in the Old and New Testament.  It isn't God when things are going awry and evil, it's the will of man.  God gave you free will to choose to serve him or the devil.  It's your choice and you see these wicked things see them for what they are:  The work of the Evil One, the will of man and not God's will. What you can do is pray and read Ephesians 6:12

there is nothing that God wont do for us.    there is also nothing that he would put in our path that we could not handle.

as LEO's know,  you go through, see, and do things that you would not wish on anyone.. (ok, well, maybe a few Adam Henrys)  but ever that, then you go home to your family with a smile.

LEO's are here for a reason, they do their job for a reason.  that ONE person, may change their life due to YOU LEO.  they may stop the drugs, stop the hurt, get the help they need, and maybe not make that leap to end their life. and because of your extra 5 mins you took, or that hand you help, or your shoulder that let a hurt person cry on...  that is what it is all about.  that child that you help, that homeless person you gave money too....  these are all things, good things you do to...

to be in LE, you need a lot of things,  you need to be cold at times,  you need to turn off your heart to see the carnage, then 20 mins later turn it on for that child.....  then turn it off when you go home, almost switch to another person.

LEO's are needed and wanted, and are a special breed.  God put you on this earth and doing this job for a reason... its a calling, wether at times you dont think it is.

God Bless all LEO's and please be safe, he will guide you, ALWAYS!

There is not doubt there is one true, living God.  He sent his Son to be the ultimate sacrifice for us.  I know sometimes it looks as if he has left us, but he is always there waiting for us to ask for his help.  I have realized that when I try to do things on my own they don't always turn out the best.  When I am patient and wait on his timing, everything works out and I know that he is with me.

If there were no God, then How would we as Humans have the ability to love with out limits? When you look at your children, or even a flower and see the beauty in it, where do you think they came from? Sure there is evil and the Devils work we see in progress everyday, but we as humans tend to look at the bad stuff and it really stands out to us because we could never fathom doing such a a heanious crime or something simply wrong, we tend to rarely slow down and appreciate all that is good merely because that is nothing new to us. We who are pure and have a love for our Father are used to the great and beautiful things and they just come naturally, so in essence yes, they are over looked. When we see something bad happen what is peoples reaction "Hand over mouth OOH MY GOD" As in, how did something so bad happen when we have a Lord? We say that because as I mentioned, "We can't fathom something like that" There is so much good and great that is provided to us daily that we don't even realize, Health, love, Happiness, Peace. We just fail to see it because it's always there, if it's gone...We will notice, God is in your life everyday, Just take time to notice.

A failure is someone who quit trying.

Without a doubt he is the one we lean on when it gets rough during shift or when we are going on that call we just do not have a good feeling about. He is with us even before backup arrives along with "betsie". Stay safe keep prayin. Later.

Remember that all good things come from God, all evil cimes from Satan.  If you have been Born Again then the Holy Spirit lives in you heart.  Keep reading the bible and the author, God, will talk to through the words he has caused to be written.

I just would appreciate responding to the fact that I voted "Yes", as there's a God and he is always there for us to rescue us or either take us home to a place where we never have to suffer anymore. God knew all of us before we ever entered our Mothers womb...he already had a plan for each of our lives, our purpose, and our destiny is all to his glory. I could bore each of you and tell you factually then thirteen realistic times that God chose to rescue me from death, but I will save you the space and time. I am a living example of Gods healing and protective  hands. I know there's a God, a Jesus, and a Holy Spirit, and they all dwell inside of my heart and mind forever. I love God and just like protective armor or insurance to restore our property, I can't imagine leaving home day by day without either. Thanks for this opportunity to post a reply where there's God fearing believers. Michael.

There is not A God.....there is THE God.  Only one.  Not plural.  His name is I AM.  He had a Son.  Died terribly on a cross for you and me.  The God of my Fathers.  The God of Grace.  The Heavenly Father.  Yaweh.  Jehovah.  The Holy Ghost.  Lord.  Savior.

While we call God by many names, we are always talking about HIM.  Not some prophet who told his followers to kill people who don't follow their path.  Not a host of Gods for every different thing.  Not a man-made religion, but one given to us by our Creator.  Not something forced for fear of death, rather a religion of faith that is followed by choice.

The God of Abraham.  The God of the Book.  HE has given us the free will to accept his love or not.  Something forced has no meaning.

He wants us to love HIM because we choose to, not because we are made to.  Fellowship with the Lord, not robots.

Guess you can tell which way I lean on the subject.  :)

I believe in God He does things for us and half the time we don't realize that it him . I rely on him so much . Right now I am in a lot of pain because the drugs I was on for my asthma have caused me to have a desease which is attacking my joints now I have to have both my hips replaced . the doctors want to put me on all sorts of narcotics for the pain but I won't take anything stronger than over the counter pain relievers. I believe that God will see me through. this. He never let me down before. God bless us all.

I know there is a god, because no matter how many times I SHOULD be dead, and all those times, I questioned god, and hated him, and felt like there was no hope, he would yes allow me to get to that point  and I just couldn't take ANYMORE, then he would carry me.I know all the things I've seen and experienced, HAD to be evil, there's no way around it, but, at those very moments, it was god who overpowered all evil. I know all the miracles I've seen WAS god. i know that every time I stray away,he always pulls me back in.I know that he has a plan for each and everyone of us. Many times I've prayed the what I like to call. "fox hole" prayers you know the ones where you haven't talked to him in so long you wonder if he would even remember you, but you need his help so much, and he's there like no time has passed at all. I know that he allows bad things to happen,so we can learn from them, build character and so forth. It's a lot like a parent, they can't fix everything for you, they can set you up, give you the tools you need instruct your thinking and all, but, they can't do it all for you.And if you make mistakes, they can't cover them up for you and take responsibility for you etc.  And if they did..... what would anyone learn ,what good would come out of it? God gives you a choice to follow in him. I know there is a god because people have said ...... but you can't even see him ....... And I ask can you see the wind? just because you can't see it, does that mean it doesn't happen? I could go on and on, about this, but, I just wanted to give a few examples of how I KNOW there is a god, no matter what you choose to call him or how you choose to honor him, How much you refuse him, hate him, question him, he is always there, unconditional love.

My understanding of god changed during my first tour of OEF. It was as if someone had turned the lights on in the world, and I could see clearly.

Witness to war, I asked myself "if there is a god, why does he let these horrible things happen".  The answer is simple. Without the bad, we can never fully appreciate the good. We cannot understand the grace without the wrath, the light without the dark, and the full without the empty.

Another thing I'd like to add is an awesome quote from The Count of Monte Cristo. "You may not believe in God, but God believes in you".

I dont know..I do believe in right and wrong ..I believe in being the best human being i can be. I have read the bible. I have always been told to fear him .then i am told he is an understanding god .then i am told  I should love him.   I cant love someone I am to fear.  I just dont know. I am sorry if some of you dont wount to be friends with me now ..Beliave me I am used to it ..BUT ,,...I am not going to lie. I will always be and do the best i can to myself , my children, my friends. And to other people.I will never be a christian..I can never for give people for what they do to children.,,,A christian forgives. I let my children make up there own minds..I give them honest answers to there questions. I have read the bible to them. It is there choice ,not mine. I do not judge people for there believes. EXCEPT DEVIL WORSHIPER .they can not be good human beings if they do that..They are mean ,evil hateful ,demented people that need to have done to them what they do to children and others..          ONCE AGAIN        If you pull your  friendship or dont want to be friends with me that is okay ,I understand and will harbor no ill will.

To my dearest sweet friend .I should have never doughted your friendship. from our books ,I know and promise never to under estimate you again. I am very happy you are he to help me . I promise i will read and read again. If i have any questions ,I will ask you. The only preacher i ever liked was my great uncle. The song brother loves salvation show by neil diamond always reminded me of him. He never tried to scare me just told me when i am ready i will receive..He did not let the church support him. He worked in the coal mines in kentucky. He said the money that came into the church was for the poor and sick. He always told me never be afraid .never back down. stand up and be counted. Tell the truth, be as great human being as you can always help other people.stand up for what is right no matter who you stand against. I guess maybe thats why i stand fast for all babyblues. I was as mean as cat shit growing up ..But ,I always would set and talk to him anytime and as long as he wanted. We lost him when i was only 7yrs old.  [ black lung ].I still remember our fun talks and him trusting me and teaching me to shave him with a razor nife., I think i am going to be asking alot of questions.

Starlean, I wish you the best in your endeavors to answer a question we are all posed at some time in our life, but just never seem to have enough information EVER to completely answer.  I am not going tell you that you need to believe this or that or that if you don't do this before such and such a time, you are going to burn in hell.  While fear is a great teacher at times and for different situations, I have never seen fear work in changing someone's mindset about philosophical things.  In fact, what I have seen, and felt myself, was that the person trying to envoke the fear actually cemented my position even more.

As for turning you to God. . . . .as it was explained to me, and read from the Bible. . . .I can't turn someone to God!  Nobody can.  I can live my life in a Godly manner, treat people in a Godly way and talk with them about what I know and believe but if they are not ready to accept what I have to say. . . . .all it is at that point is talk and actions.  It was explained to me that when God is ready to use you. . . .he will let you know in his own way.

Again, as for what I believe is really not that important.  I can not answer the questions that you have. . . . .nobody can until God gives someone the answer that is going to make sense to you.  You won't be brow beaten, threatened or loved to death.  One day it will just "click" for you, but only you will know.  As for my beliefs, I have good days and bad days with what I believe.  I constantly question why do I believe x, y and z.  The Bible also tells me to do this to make sure that what I believe is what God wants me to believe instead of just listening to someone else's "preaching".  In the end though, you will NEVER have a rock solid answer that you can look at day in and day out.  Reason?  Faith is part of the equation and faith can neither be proven or explained. . . . .only accepted.

I will end with the way I started though. . . . .good luck in finding the answers you seem to be looking for.  If you are truly serious about your quest, I believe you will find the answers sooner than you think and from a source you never thought about looking into.  Good luck.

I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, and I won't be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to other people and I expect the same from them.
