Posted 6 months ago Well I don't know if its the same in every state, but just prior to Obama's election there was more than enough ammo to go around here in AZ, Now I can spend WEEKS looking for ammo. The places that have ammo have jacked up the prices by 10 bucks a box or more. And thats IF you can find it. Some stores claiming getting in a shipment in overnight and selling out within hours of opening. I was wondering if some of the other states are having the same issues as well? I do see Personal Defense Ammo, but Im looking for boxes of 50 or 100. Even websites are all on backorder. I was told buy a clerk he had one subject come in and purchase 26 boxes of ammunition.at ONE TIME. I dont know about you guys but these retards running around hoarding up the ammo is killing it for the rest of us who just want to practice. especially considering my department no longer is giving out the 50rnds a month to shoot. So if you could just list your state and experiences or availability and or shortages that would be great. Being a police officer is like having a front row seat to the greatest show on earth. |

| Posted 6 months ago Yes ammo has been more expensive and hard to come by since Iraq, however yes I have notice the difference in the last couple months. Not sure who to blame but B.O. said he was going to do just that so its likely a safe assumption. By the way I am in Mich |

| Posted 6 months ago Ammo is definately harder to find and higher, most of the Walmarts in my area have gone to a 2 box maximum on any caliber, it they have it you could buy 2 boxes of 45, 2 boxes of 357 sig, etc. 9 mm seems to be virtually impossible to find (along with 380), a friend of mine had to ship his brother in Houston, TX several boxes of 9 mm as there was noe in that area to be found. I had one major retailer tell me that when they get ammo in it usually sells out within 30 min. Evey day is just the same, I'm chasing rainbows in the rain. AWB nickname "Wiz" |

| Posted 6 months ago Its the same here in NY. I just found some at a small gunshop and bought them out of 45 and 40. The gun shop can only order 5 boxes at a time for their stock. Everybody is stocking up because of the concerns over the new proposed ammo legislation. From what I hear if, a big if, it passes it could cost an extra $25 per box of 50rds. |

| Posted 6 months ago Yeah it's like that everywhere!! We've looked all over the US!! Not that we need any. We saw the writing on the wall. Bought enough ammo for 2 years worth of qualifications along time ago. normally we only buy what we need, when we need it. I think most cops around here did the same thing as well! If you find any buy more than you need!! Only advised that I have!!! Even reloading supplies are in short supply. 3 B's of Law Enforcement

Yeah really a suppose 500% increase on prices is complete BS. Ill have to wait at least another 4 years before the house and senate are controlled by repblicans again and not to mention the presidency. Im sure Obmama and his administration are only thinking of whats best (in their oppinions). I mean I beleive in reasonable gun control but come on? Its the weapons not the ammo that should be regulated. I may just have to start loading my own ammmo if it does go through.. But this is the reason Im registered with the NRA... THEY surprisingly pull alot weight and influence. Im thinking about jusr ordering the 600 rounds offline at cabelas and paying the 225. Its only on back order for like 1-2 weeks. But here in AZ its ONLY pistol ammo. Rifle ammo is still everywhere surprisingly and easy to find. Being a police officer is like having a front row seat to the greatest show on earth. |

Shoot here in AZ practically every person I stop has a weapon in their vehicle. Yesterday I stopped a guy who had a 10in barrel AR with a 30rnd mag, 2 glock 19's both with hollow points and one with a supressor. a Walther Pistol with 3 mags .22lr. and Bolt action rifles in the trunk. Guy was paying for his stamps but thats the type of people I stop here in AZ Being a police officer is like having a front row seat to the greatest show on earth. |

I haven't seen any ammo of the calibers listed above at Walmarts since Obummer took over. Was able to buy some 9mm at a gunshow last month and the prices I'm paying for a box of 50 now, I used to get 100 last year. http://www.iamsorryivotedforobama.com/ How's that HOPE and CHANGE working out for you? | Posted 6 months ago I got lucky, went to a training class in west central MO, went into the local walmart thei first day and got 200 rnds of 45 hardball for about $60, first time I had seen 45 in any walmart for about a month, I check my local walmart about 3x a wk. about all I got lately was 1 box of 32 ACP. Haven't seen 9mm all year. Evey day is just the same, I'm chasing rainbows in the rain. AWB nickname "Wiz" |

| Posted 6 months ago You can't find ammo because my father-in-law has bought all of it.
I wish, I was more then sort of kidding. When Obama won the election, he bought all of the ammo in the county where he lives, and continues to buy whatever he can whenever he can. For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. |

| Posted 6 months ago ALEA... Arizona Law Enforcement Academy, still hands out 100rnds a month for free. I try not to mooch off of them not to mention the drive is about 30 miles away; but i went down there today and scored some free ammo. Thinking about going next month too if things dont start to settle down. Being a police officer is like having a front row seat to the greatest show on earth. |

Well its sad to say that people who "hoard" the ammo like that in fear of what Obama MAY, or MAY NOT do, makes it a pain in the but for people like me who want to just get some practice rounds and go out shooting. Im not trying to start my own gun store or anything just want to make sure I stay proficient and be able to practice on a monthly basis. Even the shooting ranges are limiting pistol ammo only to people who shoot on their range.. I mean you can go there buy 5 boxes and pay for an hour and not shoot but thats a pain in the butt Being a police officer is like having a front row seat to the greatest show on earth. |

| Posted 6 months ago The best explanation I have heard: It is like during the first winter snow, as soon as the forecast is on the news you can't find milk or bread in the store. We elected our forecast and now we can't find our "milk" or "bread". Nothing gives one person so much advantage over another as to remain always cool and unruffled under all circumstances.

| Posted 6 months ago Ok people I'm freaking out here! I live in a town of 450,000 we have 13 firearms dealers in this town. (Not including the three Wal-Marts') Out of thirteen stores everybody is out of 9mm, .380, .38, .357, .40, .44, and .45. What the hell even Wal Mart was sold out ALL THREE OF THEM!!!!! I know most of if not all of you are issued ammo through your dept, I am resposible for my own. What am I supposed to do here? Between requals every 6 months and regular training at the range I am down to my last 20 rounds. How are we supposed to do our jobs when we cant even buy required equipment? Bakersfield, CA |

| Posted 6 months ago IOWA AMMO SHORTAGE: There is no ammo here on the east side of the state. I stopped at three major retailers looking for some 9 mm for target shooting. Wal-Mart had no handgun ammo at all, the shelf with all of the prices was completely bare of any rounds. Dunham's sporting goods had a few (2) boxes of .45 and a few boxes of .40 everything else was sold out. None of the employees at any of the stores have any idea when they will get any ammo in. I also heard the price of reloading supplies especially primers has doubled and they can't be found anywhere either. |

| Posted 6 months ago As has been said, the problem is everywhere. You can't find handgun ammo anywhere; gun shows, Cabela's, local stores, Walmart. Nothing. I know the blame is going to people hoarding ammo. I'm having trouble believing that is the only cause. Why? Because the first ammo that became unavailable was .380!!! Then the 9mm and .40 followed by just about every other caliber. I can't even get .25! So what gives? If it were simply people hoarding, why do the suppliers show up at gun shows empty handed? Hoarding is going on, that is true. Especially now because once someone obtains a source, they grab up everything they can afford out of despiration. But I also know that BO changed the procedure for selling off used casings from the military. Used casings now must be destroyed (de-milled) before being sold on the open market. Ammo manufacturers would buy, recondition and use these casings to make new cartridges for sale to the public and military. Well now they can't get that brass in the form of a casing. Those casings are now just scrap metal. So now the government gets 1/8 of the price they used to get for that material, all the while BO is putting us further into debt! Oh and guess who the largest buyer of scrap metal is in the US? China. So you know we won't see that brass again anytime soon (this also gradually increases ammo prices through the principle of supply and demand). |

| Posted 6 months ago I just went to a walmart today at about 6am(for other reasons), walked by the sporting goods and saw the night manager was behind the counter. FYI only managers can sell ammo before 7am prior to the sporting goods staff showing up. Either way the manager stated she usually has a line of people at the sporting goods counter everyday at 4 to 5am right when the ammo is stocked/unloaded from the truck. She is saying they are usually sold out even b4 the stuff hits the shelf. Being a police officer is like having a front row seat to the greatest show on earth. |

| Posted 6 months ago I have a friend who works at Bass Pro Shops about 45 minutes from my home. He called me last week and said the ammo truck was coming in any minute to unload. I had him set aside 1 box of 250 round Remington UMC value pack in 45 ACP, 40 S&W, and 9MM. I also had him grab me two 50 round boxes of 380 for my Colt Mustang. I spent $275 after it was all said and done. I was very happy considering everywhere is sold out and the prices on GunBroker are ridiculous right now, especially for 380 ammo. Who's in charge of this mess?? |

| Posted 6 months ago Just look out for each other is all I can recommend...I keep my friends informed of callibers I need and they do the same. I currently have a box of .44 Mag I bought for a friend since the shop had it here, where I live, instead of where my friend lived. In a few days, I'll trade him the .44 mag for some 7.62 or 5.56. |

The Obomination has gotten smart , the commie bastard has learned that it is not the gun that kills but the nice bullet that comes out of it . The constitution does not protect the right to accessible ammo so if he can't ban the guns he will make them useless by getting rid of the ammo, and gun owners are helping him by hoarding all the ammo they can get .

| Posted 5 months ago The ammo is taking even longer now. We are still back ordered on Dept ammo in our state. The ammo I ordered in Jan is still not here. .40 cal is approx is 10 months wait. .45 cal is an 8 month wait! Shotgun is coming faster and .223 is more like the 10 month wait.
