I often wondered about Railroad Officers, What is a normal shift like? Is it driving around from rail yard to rail yard? riding the trains? Are you required for court still?

Thanks

Yes...all of the above....Depending on where you work you could do anything and everything sometimes all in one day.  Some Special Agents have "Line Jobs" which can mean alot of driving while others might be in a big terminal.  Either way you never can tell what the next day will bring.  As for having a "normal shift"...Special Agents on the CN don't have one...we are considered management so that means straight salary....So we could work from can to can't.  However, up north we do have some Uniform Patrol Officers who are unionized.
