I'm looking for a decent CC gun. I carry a Glock 22 for duty and as personal carry right now but I want something .380 to .38 for CC. I want something I can holster at the small of my back. I know Kahr makes some decent CC size pistols, but haven't had the chance to look much further. All Rugers are out of the question. Any ideas?

You might also look at keltec, they make some small handguns.  My recommendation is get one that you trust and feel comfortable carrying.  You are the person who will carry it so your opinion of what is best is the most important.  If you have further questions, PM me, I won't post a lot of info on open (or restricted for that matter) forums.

Have you thought about a G27 for a BUG or personal carry?  That way you would be able to use your G22 magazines for spares if need be.  SOB?  Have you given any thought to a smartcarry holster rig?  Appendix style.

G27is a great idea, by all means. Considering how big of a Glock fan I am, you would think it would have been a first choice. The only thing holding me back from this is the fact that the G27 is a bit bulky for what I need. But the holster rig, I will def check out. Thanks a million!

There are several out there that would fit your needs. The most important thing about your decision is how comfortable you are with it. The G27, S&W 642, Kahr PM9, and Kel Tec PF9 would all be good ones to check out. Just make sure it fits your hand and your needs.

I have a Glock 23 and 27. Both are great for CC. I use the 23 in a nylon inside the pants holster. The 27 also fits in the same holster. I would go with the 27 cause it is smaller and you can carry it in an ankle holster.

I have a KelTec PF9 and it is a great CC gun. Its light, thin and I can carry it discretely in my ankle hoster, in my IWB holster and even in my pocket and not even notice its there because it is so light. It's also very reliable and fairly accurate from about 10 yards. Check it out.

I would recommend a baby Glock or Ruger LCP (very reliable)

Why are Rugers disqualified?

I recently traded in my Kel-Tec P3AT, for a 2" Smith Airweight (38+P)

Rugers are disqualified because of my lack of faith in them actually. I've owned 3 in the past and have had problems with every one of them. On top of that, their reputation is very over-exagerated. If you look at the website, you will always find numerous recalls. For me, that is not too comforting.

I don't like the ruger auto's. We had a couple cadets in our academy shooting them and parts flew off them. I own 2 ruger revolvers tho and love both of them. I have had no problems with the revolvers.

I carry a 22 as my primary on duty with a 27 backup/off duty.

As a backup, I carry the 27 in a DeSantis nemisis inside the pocket holster in the left outer BDU pocket on my uniform trousers...there's just a velcro closure on the flap.  With the pleated stripe on the outside of the trouser leg (running down the pocket) and the double thickness of the pocket flap, nobody has ever noticed where I carry my backup. It's very handy there, cuz that's right where my left hand naturally rests when I'm standing.

Off duty, I carry the 27 in a nylon inside the waistband holster at 3 o'clock under a polo shirt or T shirt.

Using the 22 mags in the 27 is a big selling point.  BTW, I have the +2 mag extensions on the 27 mags so I have 11 rds in the pistol.  The 2 rd mag extensions improve the grip tremendously.

I practice quite a bit with the 27 in my left hand because I'm NOT a lefty.  It comes out of the inside the pocket holster very smoothly and quickly.  Even when seated in my unit.

The 27 is everything that every other Glock is....dependable and accurate.

Now everybody know where your backup is, I don't post this kind of info on open forums, that is just my personal preferencce however.

I've always thrown in my Kel-Tec P3-AT (.380 ACP) in on suggestions like this...however, what good is a gun without any bullets? I'd get a .38 SPC or a 9mm before I'd get a .380....ammo is just impossible to find right now- especially .380!

Walther PPS ( made in both 9mm and , 40 : single stack mags ) .  Opperates and fuctions just like a Glock too .  Small enough to conceal but not too small you lose controllabilty .   Personally , I plan on getting one soon .

They are certainly thin, but not too terribly comfortale to hold...

I'd personally carry a LM4 Simmerling by American Derringer. it's a 5 shot really compact 45acp. Just about 3" tall and 5" long.

I carry a Glock 23 or 27 inside my waistband at the small of my back. I have carried a Glock 22 with a light and had no trouble concealing it under a regular shirt. I am not smaller than average but no one has ever spotted it.

When considering SOB carry, make sure the gun is accessible with the weak hand.  Many SOB holsters aren't.  There's also the problem of falling on it like falling on a cuff case, which can injure your tailbone (not funny at all).  Good holsters aren't cheap, so do your homework first.  I like to wear my G27 just behind the point of my right hip in a paddle holster.  Accessible with both hands, comfortable when seated, easily concealed with a jacket or loose shirt.  Next favorite is just in front of right hip in a belly band,  most comfortable and accessible when wearing a t-shirt and overalls.  Probably not the best choice in the city (ha!) but very comfy!

How can a cop afford one - if they can find one???  There's one on Gunbroker right now... for $4,000 dollars. Also, where will you get replacement parts if / when the weapon is damaged? There is an AMD model for $805 right now, but the reserve is not met - probably won't be at that rate.

A better, more practical alternative would be a Kahr PM45 - it even holds another round, comes with a warranty, has a good track record, has less points for debris to enter the weapon, is highly corosion resistant and is roughly the same size. There are several good, reliable guns available these days for a heckova lot less money and a lot better maintenance.

Personally, I carry a Sig P232, .380 loaded with the new Hornady FTX Amo. Read up on the new ammunition from Hornady. Very impressive. I wouldn't want to experience any of the FTX calibers, they really give the .380 some firepower.

I have a Colt 380 Mustang.....6+1 round clip  w/hollow points...hardly bigger then the palm of your hand but it will for sure get their attention..........perfect for back pocket or inside holster carry.

As far as finding one any dealer that carries American Darringer firearms can get them. As far as affording one you actually got me on that one, yes they are very spendy.

I'd also recommend you look at the sig 232... it's slim and small enough for an ankle carry. In blued, it's only 18 oz (with no rounds).

I have seen a lot of good guns here so i would just throw in my own, i personally carry a PA-63 in .380 with SXT ammo, it's small, comfortable and reliable, i've put thousands of rounds down range and never had a problem.

One point to mention about it is the long first pull (This aggrivates some and they go to get it polished down to a more reasonable pull) i like the first pull as it gives me a nice absolute (Yes your honor i 'Did' mean to shoot, no it wasn't an accident, Etc.)

the gun is based off the Walther PPK Design so, if it looks like something you would like i would reccomend it.

Hope this helps.
