For eight long years I endured the clap-trap rantings and ravings of the Left-Wing Liberal Lunatics who blamed President George W. Bush, a man that I supported, for everything from Global Warming to their eggs being served cold at the local diner.  My feelings about these uninformed fools ranged from mild dismissiveness to anger, frustration, rancor and disbelief to pity and condemnation.  So many of their claims were based upon rumor, innuendo and outright lies and the claims often just defied rational thinking or belief.

Over the past several months I have observed a similar pattern of verbal attacks upon President Obama.  While I fully support anyone's right to disagree with the election results, the vetting process of the Presidency, or the President's policies, comments, political leanings and background, I was certainly hoping that those who did not vote for him, or support him, could express their disagreement with him in far more rational and civil terms than those of the Left-Wing Lunatic Fringe. Sadly, that does not appear to be the case.

Referring to President Obama as a "POS" a "A**hole" or any other number of street level derogatory terms does not lend credability to your complaints about him, it only reveals a lack of real thought process and an inability to disagree without being crude and unprofessional. By sinking to the same level of the "Bush Nay-Sayers" the current radical critics of President Obama only feed into the "Obama Adoration Society's" talking points as they label Obama critics in the same fashion as Bush critics were labeled by those on the Right.  Think about it, if the constant idiotic "Bush Bashing"  by the Liberals and the Media drove you to distraction then why would you immitate those same social rejects that you thought so little of for the past eight years?

I did not vote for President Obama, I do not support many of his policies, I do not agree with much of what he has said in the past four months, but I think that I can certainly air those thoughts in a professional and well thought out manner without resorting to the use of vulgarity or demeaning and derogatory terms about the man.

I do not, and will not engage in arguements with those of the radical Far Left whose agenda is set and mindset will not be changed, regardless of how much proof or rational thought you provide to them to back your position.  In the same vein I will not engage in arguement with those of the radical Far Right who follow the same path as the radicals from the oter side of the aisle for the same reason.

Please remember that we are in a public arena here at PL, and we are fortunate enough to live in a free society where we are ALL able to express our thoughts, ideas, convictions and beliefs.  That being said, I would ask that, as PROFESSIONALS, we use a certain amount of tact, diplomacy and rational thought process in expressing our opinions and refrain from the gutter-level, childish tactics employed so consistantly by the Left-Wing Liberal Lunatic Fringe, we are far superior to that level so let's start acting like it.

Thanks for the opprotunity to vent, I will get down from my soapbox now!

Further. when ali akbar visits this website, and others like it, he might be left with the idea that the military and police in this country dont like the president. and he will repor tthat info back to main poopah (he who blows wind in the desert) with the idea that Americans are divided and the police and military wont support the pres. and then use that against us, in their own ways.

We might want to put on a unified front. If we dont like Obama whatever, save it for pms or fireside chats. One of the things that made Nazi Germany so fearsome is that we assumed everyone was a Nazi, and everyone supported Hitler. Not true. but it gave us great pause. Let them ahve the same pause. we are unified in ways they dont understand, but lets not give them a view into ways to defeat us. remember the war they fight is a physical one, a psychological one and a poltical one.

I agree with Retleo but disagree with rickm very much. When President Bush did something I did not like I said so. When President Obama does something I dislike, I will also say so. The same goes for Congress or any of the various Senators or Congressmen. When they are wrong they are wrong and I will state my opinion, but I will do it in a respectful and honest manner. So far I have not seen much of anything that the current Congress or President Obama or even his Cabinet has done that I agree with and much that I strongly and completely disagree with. His views are very socialistic and all his decisions have tended to be to grow government and seize control of the private sector which I believe is a strong attempt to create a socialist state or as close as he can to having one. He has placed the fox in the henhouse with his choices for cabinet positions and have basically seized control over a number of private Corporations which I see as completely against the US Constitution. It is my hope and I am working very hard to ensure that any Congressman or Senator who has supported this direction is thrown out of office in the next election in two years and that President Obama himself is voted out in 2012.

An enormous BUMP to that Ret! This post has been LONG overdue and could not have come from a more respectable or honorable source!

We may not like him, we not agree with him, we may not support him BUT we do have to tolerate and withstand his run for at least the next 4 years! Let's do so in a professional, tactful and beneficial manner!

I wouldnt feel like I was on pl if someone didnt disagree with me. lol. All Im saying is putting on a unifed front for the enemies benefit, that is all. Surely, part of being an American is being able to disagree. I dont want to give them a springboard either into our psych or a lever to expoit difference.

BUMP     A worthy and lofty goal but, alas, I don't believe it's within the realm of possibility. Least ways not here.

I agree with everyone here.. I did not vote for him either. I have told others that I do not trust him, but I will give him a benefit of a doubt.

I really disagree with who he has put in his cabinet.  There were remarks that were made about banning guns, raising the price of ammunition by 500% ans other various things.

I am not sure if anyone else has noticed it yet, but I have noticed by reading the news that there have been more shootings lately. A couple of them by people that are afraid of having their guns and rights taken away. Look at the PA shootings.  I have also noticed the crime rate has started to go up because the economy has fallen and that people are afraid of what is going to happen.

People are scared. We need to hold our ground and let others know that things will be ok..

Also as far as "working very hard to ensure that any Congressman or Senator who has supported this direction is thrown out of office in the next election in two years and that President Obama himself is voted out in 2012." We should start doing this now.. We need to make the changes ourselves and for this country.

Well said retleo, and I agree whole heartedly. Whenever I have something bad to say about Obama, it tends to be towards his followers and their cult behavior. They worship him like a god, and it's very pathetic. I'm trying my hardest to support Obama, because whether or not I like it, he's still the President of, imo, the greatest county in the world. But, like everyone in politics, he practically lied his way into power. Promising this and that, but not keeping that promise and doing the opposite.

I just hate the direction this country is going now.

All politics aside, that was well said. I, being a person who voted for Obama, think that the Obama-mania is absurd and ridiculous. I was just talking about this on another forum topic and this came up. So I will say again that people need to do their research about the people that they "support" before buying shirts, trading cards, posters, etc. with the person's face on it. All I can say is that I hope his plan works out for the sake of our country, no matter who the President is. God Bless America!

Try to remember, there is a big difference between disagreeing with the policies of the President and disrespecting the President.

Yes, we can speak out against those thing we do not like, but we must do so in a respectful and dignified manner.

Respect for an individual must be earned IMO not given.  I respect the position of president of the USA but do not respect the current president, however I will not speak disrespectfully of him, he had done little to earn my respect.

I have to agree EXCEPT change the name to BUSH. It could apply to every president since George Washington but you can't predicate your opinions of the person in the position based on the actions of the supporters since the person has no control over whatever affection is held or the manner in which it is offered.
