The deputy hit by an 18-wheeler last night is doing better today, but he's still in a lot of pain. Deputy Rick Dickinson was on the side of I-15 trying to slow traffic because of another accident, when a big-rig hit his patrol car and pushed it onto him. (((see post that I made earlier on Officer should have the right to sue if injured by a motorist while conducting a traffic stop, or intervening in an accident)) Currently officers in Utah are unable to sue. Never Forget the members of public safety who have died and continue to suffer from past meth lab exposure! |

But I would think the Deputy stll has a right to sue the driver of the truck, if he can show any type of loss not covered by the Department's insurance coverage, or if he can prove negligence on the driver's part. Hope the Deputy is doing okay. Everyone has a right to sue. We live in a sue happy society. |
