Well not exactly because of course the media has taken this and spun it into their very scripted "all Conservatives are evil and racist" dogma. What Rush said simply was that he hoped the anointed one's policies fail (the MSM failed to mention that). Here is the statement in context:

"If I wanted Obama to succeed, I'd be happy the Republicans have laid down.  And I would be encouraging Republicans to lay down and support him.  Look, what he's talking about is the absorption of as much of the private sector by the US government as possible, from the banking business, to the mortgage industry, the automobile business, to health care.  I do not want the government in charge of all of these things. I don't want this to work.  So I'm thinking of replying to the guy, "Okay, I'll send you a response, but I don't need 400 words, I need four: I hope he fails." (interruption) What are you laughing at?  See, here's the point.  Everybody thinks it's outrageous to say.  Look, even my staff, "Oh, you can't do that."  Why not?  Why is it any different, what's new, what is unfair about my saying I hope liberalism fails?  Liberalism is our problem.  Liberalism is what's gotten us dangerously close to the precipice here.  Why do I want more of it?  I don't care what the Drive-By story is.  I would be honored if the Drive-By Media headlined me all day long: "Limbaugh: I Hope Obama Fails."  Somebody's gotta say it."

http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_011609/content/01125113.guest.html

In all honesty, I certainly hope that the nobama's policies fail as well as they are sending us down a very dark road. Now, let us flash back to 2001. James Carville, a well-known lib, said the same exact thing about President George W. Bush (on 9/11/01 no less):

"On the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, just minutes before learning of the terrorist attacks on America, Democratic strategist James Carville was hoping for President Bush to fail, telling a group of Washington reporters: "I certainly hope he doesn't succeed.""

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/03/11/carville-wanted-bush-fail/

Obviously by the events of the day, this soundbite did not get much play however, just after this bald-headed fool said what he said the news broke of the attacks and he added this: "Disregard everything we just said! This changes everything!"

Now that is very honorable! As were many of the tokens that liberals were willing to give to W during those first few days, oh but how it quickly turned when the media began their drumbeat of W the evil idiot who is so dumb that he cannot pronounce a word and yet is so cunning that he started the Iraq War because he wanted to finish what his dad had started.

By the way, because the news of the statement by Carville never hit the mass-media (suprised anyone?) the bald-headed fool had the temerity to say this about Rush: ""The most influential Republican in the United States today, Mr. Rush Limbaugh, said he did not want President Obama to succeed," Carville railed on CNN recently. "He is the daddy of this Republican Congress." Hypocrite indeed! By the way Carville, and of course you know this because you are such a smart guy, Rush Limbaugh is as disgusted with the Republicans as most Conservatives are, and deservedly so. The Republicans fail to show a backbone when one is required, like TODAY as the nobama signed the 8500 earmarks in the ominous spending bill into law. It is a sad day when people sacrifice their principles for the scraps from the government trough. Sad indeed!

The way the White House has been going after anyone who voices dissent is undignified, unpresidential, and frankly alarming.  It's bad enough they single out Rush (a radio personality), but what's worse is when they target journalists (Santelli, Cramer).  Every American should be very concerned about this trend -- is this an effort, like we've seen in Communist regimes in the past, to silence dissent and intimidate the media?  Our Constitution is under continuous assault by these clowns.

My magical sceptor

Sorry couldn't resist. Seriously I like to think on both sides of the fence. I don't like leaning to much on either side because if you lean to much to one side you fall over.

He's a great entertainer but like any person who stays to much on one side he only speaks and exposes the facts that further his agenda along. I listen to local like Phil Henry and other talk show host but I also don't take everything they say seriously. On some issues they are great on others they only expose what furthers their propaganda.

How bout you?

I listen to a little Limbaugh, some Beck, Hannity, and even Savage.  I tune in some others too but some of the names escape me.

I hear what you say about leaning too far in one direction, but I do think Limbaugh has improved in the area of withholding criticism of those in the Right.  While he's been accused in the past of being in bed with Bush or whomever, I've noticed him being more objective recently and I admire that.  He has been much more vocal in criticizing Republicans of late while holding onto party principles.

I think he has realized that to maintain party loyalty does not require one to remain loyal to certain politicians and officeholders.  I like that mentality and I think he has retained a significant audience by doing that - tons of people are disenchanted with the Republicans and they like hearing their concerns voiced by one who is not doing so from the polar opposite end of their shared ideology.

He is a very smart man and as I said before some of his logic is flawed IMO but I like his stuff either way. Shame I don't get to catch much of it though. I hear about it from my dad though. He's about as far right as Limbaugh if not more so. You can imagine the family get togethers. Limbaugh has an audience to hold up so I think some of the "outrageous" things he says is purely for the shock factor.

It's kinda funny you mentioned the media. People only notice what they want to about thier agenda. The media isn't fair and neither are talk show host. Everybody has their own agenda's and some are more in favor of one and not the other because of it.

The basis for this Forum is that the Liberal Controlled Media once again has taken a comment made by another Patriotic American ( like his persona or not ) completely out of context. This " story " was all over MSNBC & all the other biased News shows. To set the record straight ..........what RUSH said was ..........

IF SUCCESS MEANS PRESIDENT OBAMA TURNING  AMERICA INTO A SOCIALISTIC  COUNTRY THAN........I WANT OBAMA TO FAIL.

This story alone.... proves how pathetically Biased and corrupt the Media ( except FOX ) is in this Country. EVERY News AGENCY ran with the last five words ONLY on the above statement by Rush. No where but FOX did I see the Truth. The News is suppose to show the Truth , no matter if they agree with it or not. Rush also said ..........

IF PRESIDENT OBAMA WOULD STAY WITHIN THE GUISE OF THE CONSTITUTION ,PROMOTE & REWARD THE WORKING MAN ....BY TAXING LESS, CREATING LESS GOVERNMENT. ETC........... THAN I WANT HIM TO SUCCEED.

Seems that statement was somehow left OFF of all the News reports. Rush is a straight shooter and that kind of honesty drives Liberals nuts. How about Obama with " There will be absolutely NO pork in the stimulus Bill " ..................where's the Media Vultures on that line ?

No one ever claimed that shows such as his did not include an entertainment factor.  They must if they're going to keep an audience.  Politics can be boring as hell if you do nothing but read legislation and politician's statements.  You have to add humor, sarcasm, and other elements in order to keep the audience interested.  That does not always equate to "flawed" logic or information as you suggest - a show such as his has to be very cognizant of disseminating outright false information - now more than ever.

Your father is probably a conservative because he has matured to that point in his life where he knows better.  Many have said that if one remains politically liberal heading into their mid years and beyond, they've never really grown up.  Be careful of the words you choose now - you may be eating some of them when you reach his age.

I will give you that but at the same point in time I see it as flawed because some of his logic is hyped up and taken out of context completely. (Either by him, those for him, or those against him) It's like any entertainer I take him with a grain of salt. I do think some of his logic is flawed but not all (let me just make that clear just in case I didn't before). I see the major flaw in that he has to hype the info up to get the ratings and to get the people going. (Kind of like the biased news media of today) Does that mean he doesn't have good info? Not by far. I have learned a lot by radio show host such as himself but he is an entertainer with means other than the information he has to say. That is why I take what he says with a grain of salt and keep going.

Me and my dad may have a differing opinion on things but don't mistake what I say. I am proud to have him to give me his wisdom and he has expressed at how proud he is in how I apply it. We may not agree 100% but we come to a middle ground more than you might suspect with both leaving with a feeling of accomplishment.

You must forgive them for they worship at the alter of his eminance obama, they accept, believe, and preach the gospel from the book of cnn.  obama is thier savior they shall not want, for working americans shall provide. when the day of revalation comes they shall be cast into the depths of euphoria as peace and prosparity shall be with them for all thier days.

so forgive them for they know not what they do, take solace in the knowledge that when the time comes obama shall be proven a false, and they shall be cast into the pits of dispair, and forced into labor to support the ruling class. while free men who resisted shall remain free never beaten they shall rise up and smite the wicked and set things right again.

So do I.  I have no interest in living in a nationalized Marxist wonderland.  Absolutely, I want Mr. Obama to fail!

The president is the steward and guardian of the country, not the dictator.  As Rush said, no president has the right to remake the country in his (or her) own image.

BTW, there's an important distinction between talk show hosts and the news media:  Talk show hosts are biased, that's their job.  Entertainment, absolutely; they're paid to give their opinion.  News media journalists are not.

I find it rather alarming that our media will take a talk show host out of text and not blink an eye yet defend the irreverant Wright, (B.O.s mentor) as being Qupted out of tect when he shouted "God damn America"!

Now why are we picking on the hair impaired ? Are bald people somehow less intelligent than those with hair ? To say " bald-headed fool " sounds quite biased to me. To include a physical loss that someone has no control over with a slur on their intelligence level says more about the sayer.....than the sayee. You're correct but I have to say in my own defense I was quoting ajsdaddy as it's obviously impossible to determine a person's intelligence based on the level of "hirsuteness". It's claimed however, mostly by "hair impaired" guys, that male-pattern baldness is caused by excess testosterone which makes them more  V I R I L E . Watch out you gals.

Do you think Limbaugh will have the same grace that bald-headed fool Carville had when he recanted saying, "Disregard everything we just said! This changes everything!" I don't believe he will because he's not much more than a huge gas bag (my opinion) but I sure hope he does.

Now why are we picking on the hair impaired ? Are bald people somehow less intelligent than those with hair ? To say " bald-headed fool " sounds quite biased to me. To include a physical loss that someone has no control over with a slur on their intelligence level says more about the sayer.....than the sayee. ( and No......I'm not bald.........I just found the insult to be very tiresome to my friends without )

Can some one tell me why these B.O. guys feel the need to use big words, I mean come on  most of the people here have great educations yet speak in plain simple english?
