I'm finishing up flight school ( 2 weeks of nights left) at Ft. Rucker. If anybody has questions about helicopters or flight school let me know. I fly Bell 206 and  CH-47 Chinook.

Hi,

Congrats.

Are you a return to Rucker for advanced training?

I graduated there in Dec. 1980.  My last unit was C. Trp. 4/9 Cav, 6th ACCB, Ft. Hood.

I flew mostly Slicks and some Sky Scooters.  Only rode front seat in a Cobra once with a friend in my Unit just to hot refuel.  I was in the Huey Platoon there and while there I invented an item to help deploy our Delta's that I later got a patent for.

While I was there we also had a couple "Foreign Exchange" Pilots.  One from Canada and one from Britain.

I went ahead and got my fixed wing license through another friend from flight school that was in our Heavy Lift (CH-47) unit.  He was an IP and had his own Cessna 172 that we used.

I got an Experimental Ultralight that I built and had certified so I could help another friend with a dealership to teach people to fly them in Nolanville, just south of the freeway.

I tried to get back on active duty back in about 2002-2003 so I could do my part to help with this war on terror but wasn't able to do it.  I still wish I could though.

After leaving Active Duty I went on to college for Computer Programming and some other odds and ends but I finally got two degrees. 1.) Electronic Field Engineer and 2.) Computer Network Engineer.

I have a lot of years of experience and I feel I could be an asset to any unit I could get assigned to.

Good luck on your future.

I got questions for ya.

I have recently talked to the CWO for my state and I'm in the NG.  The problem is I have to retake my ASVAB.  The only area i need help in is my GT score.  I got the Word Knowledge and Paragraph Comp.  I really need help in the Arithmatic Reasoning!  I want to go to Flight School so bad.  This is my dream.  Anything anyone can do or give to help, I would really apprietiate it.  Please help. Lol

----------------------------

If you mean an apache or kiowa pilot (those are the ones with guns)  you have a couple options. If you are in the guard or reserve and get accepted into flight school from an apache or kiowa unit that's what you will be trained in. If you go to flight school on active duty you select your advanced airframe (apache, kiowa, blackhawk, or chinook) after you complete primary (bell 206). It's a competitive process. There are X amount of each airframe and you choose based on your position on the order of merit list. In other words there is no guarantee you will get what you want but most people do. If you're not in the military now there is a street to seat program where you join and go to basic and then warrant officer candidate school and then flight school. Let me know if you have any more questions?
