New K9 Car and hot and pop...

Posted about 4 years ago if you get a new car and hot and pop, Test the crap out of it.... I got a replacement car and a new hot and pop was installed, when the K9 insert was. All appeared well until a few days later when my door popped and Fluffy was loose in the parking lot of 7-11 (potential to be all bad). I thought I hit my door popper button, the next day on a traffic stop the door popped again releasing him into traffic, lucky for both of us he rounded the cart looking for me. I secured him and the radio was was calling me as my transmission was interupted, I grabbed my cars hand mike again and key up, and the door popped open again.... Now I am really concerned I will get my dog hurt. After resecuring him again and telling the traffic offender to go. I went to clear my stop and again the door opened. I resecured him again and it finally clicked.............. My car radio is tripping the door popper. I unplugged it the hot and pop, and had it checked the next day, it only does it on one channel. It seems the antennas are to close together and the radio shop will move my car radio antenna next week. In the mean time my door popper is disabled, and the morale of the story is if you get a new car and hot an pop check it out on all your radio channels, a couple of days in a row, mine did not do it for the 1st few days of using the new car and setup, to make sure you dont have a problem and release your dog for an AD or get him hurt. |

| Posted about 4 years ago One our handlers had a situation in which he was helping seach a car on a stop at a crowded gas station. As he was searching, the other Officers said, "Bruce, your dog." He responded, " Yeah, I'll get him in a minute." The Officers said, "No, your dog!" He looked up to see his dog walking around in the parking lot and people running for cover. He accidently leaned onto his his remote popper on his belt releasing his partner. He got control of his partner and returned him to the car. Luckily no one was bit and all had a good laugh about it. He is now more mindful of his remote popper. "People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf."
