Any families out there who have a child born so tiny as mine (one pound 11 ozs) can identify with the roller coaster you have to go thru in order for them to just survive.  Any parents who have a child who is really ill, it's a good idea for you to read what advise i'm about to give you.

This is the time when parents seem to to find Jesus really quickly if they haven't before.  I had been a Christian before this happened, but my faith was really tested and I believe the Lord wanted to see what truely was in my heart.  Both my husband and I went to the chapel every day, got down on our knees, bared our souls and prayed this prayer.  "Lord, we are putting this child you blessed us wilh wholly into your hands."  " If you choose to take him, we may not like it, but we will accept it as your will."

Anyone can "say" the words, but you have to have your heart in a place where you can say these words, mean them, and have them come from your soul.  He knows the difference.

Shane was our 5th pragnancy. I lost 5 before him (one, a set of twins who would be 19 yo right now)

Shane survived. Praise the Lord. but not without another challenge.  During his battle to survive, he had brain bleeds causing Cerebral Palsey.  He couldnt' sit up till the age of 2 and again, we prayed that prayer...."Lord, If you choose to keep him this way, we will accept it as your will. But I feel like he is destined to do great and wonderful things in his lifetime.  Within 6 months, he was just shy of being a normal 2 year old.  Since then, he's not as graceful and his speach isn't totally perfect, but this 10 year old boy just took his Karate test and is now is working toward his next test....His Black Belt.  To this day nobody can see anything wrong with him in any way. The doctors are dumbfounded, and the ONLY problem he has is muscles spasams in his neck and shoulders....That's it.

So, what is the key? Jesus is the key as long as you let Him be and remember. Everything is according to God's will. You can ask Him, but don't always expect the answer to be yes and go into it knowing that and expect that the answer may just be no. THAT is what he wants, total faith no matter what.

People say God bless you all the time......My answer to them....."He already has....and i'm not talking about only about Shane, i'm talking about my life.  The beautiful part is the Shane loves the Lord SO MUCH. How many 10 year olds can you say that about?

Wow. Your faith is extrordinary and was pushed to the limits. I am glad that your son is doing exceptionally well these days. He has had a remarkable journey to where he is now. Keep the faith to you, and all who read this.

Tinker, you and yours are such a blessing to everyone.  Your story of faith and never giving in to life's struggles are a life lesson we all can learn from.  I believe that the Lord God does work miricles and that he chooses the best of parents to bless with those that keep their sights on Him.  Your son is as blessed to have you as you are to have him.  Thank you for sharing.  Blessings to you and your family always.

Thank you for your kind words.... I hope that this testimony will spring-board others into thinking about their relationship with our Lord God and accept Him into their hearts and lives.  I'm not talking about finding Him only when they need him then forgetting about Him, but making Him the main part of their lives before all else. Sure, I can get silly and even rude at times, but I try to not be a way that would offend Him.  Kind of like the program MADD. They are against drunk driving, but that doesn't mean you can't have a drink....just don't drive.

Thanks again

Your Sister in Christ, Lori

Twinker,

I wish I had one half of an ounce of the faith you and your family have. It's reading stories like these that make me truly praise God for the blessings in my life. I have been very fortunate. I pray the Lord continues to strengthen yours and your husband's faith. It is in your faith He is truly glorified.
