Poll: Was the judge's punishment enough?
Poll: Is an 8-month suspension enough for the judge's racial tirade?

| Posted over 4 years ago I read the article and the stuff she was saying was out of this world. If it would have been a LEO of any race saying what she said it would be no questions asked here are your walking papers. She needs to go. Our judicial system has enough problems, we sure don't need judges with that mentallity on the bench. |

| Posted over 4 years ago BE REAL PEOPLE! To lose her career for a first offense, I don't think so. A lengthier suspension yes, but to be disbarred NO. This is an awful incident, it may prove to make Judge Cofield a more compassionate LEO's Jurist. This woman holds herself to the highest standard...now she has taken herself Down a KNOTCH. I would wager, that it will take Judge Cofield much longer that eight months to recover herself respect. She is fortunate that race and gender are neutral in this case. If anything, she has shown herself to be self-loathing. Very Sad. |

| Posted over 4 years ago Not even close! This judge should be discharged and not allowed to practice law in the United States. To many lives have been impacted by her rulings. At the minimum, she should be given a year suspension, five years probation, and sent to a rehab program. This is the reason why our country is screwed up, people like her in positions of great power, that control lives. They should be held doubly responceable for their mistakes. I would like to salute the Trooper that did an outstanding job, in protecting us citizens from people like her. My final thought is, " Give her some of her own medicine." That's my story and I'm sticking to it. |

| Posted over 4 years ago lox501, You must be one of the liberals that put the socialist president in office. We do not need a LEO friendly judge, we need a judge that works for the protection of people, citizens of this State, and Country. This was the first time she got cought, the next time she might kill someone, maybe a family, man/woman, leaving some kids w/o a father or mother, or both. What then? oh it's only her second offence, give her a break! Give us a break, kick her butt off the bench and put her back into the real game. The game of life! "No tolerance for DUI's" that's what we pay judges for,and they work for US! and it's our Court Room, not theirs, we pay for it, we build it, and we put them in it as custodians of it. Lets wake these Judges up! She deserves to be fired and disbared end of story. I Thank You! |

| Posted over 4 years ago This outcome really highlights what's wrong with our country. We have become too soft on everything and everyone with the exception of Law Enforcement Officers. We would be a stronger nation if all were held to the standards society has set for us. The LEO would be standing in the unemployment line if he had uttered half of what the judge said. |

| Posted over 4 years ago She shouldn't be a judge anymore. No length of "suspention" is long enough. |

| Posted over 4 years ago Not enough. Had the tables been turned and one of the brotherhood done this, would have been brought up on policy violations and fired. Don't see how this person can sit the bench and make any good rulings if any officer comes before her. God Bless John Wayne

She, as well as LEO's are held to a higher standard. You don't think that a LEO would be fired for this or do you live in a dream world? |

| Posted over 4 years ago If she had not been driving while intoxicated, she wouldn't have had occasion to become belligerent with Police Officers. She's 'sorry' because she's in front of a review board, but the point of the matter is, she verbally assaulted several Police Officers, and is obviously unfit as a Judge. So yes, by definition, she willfully harrassed those officers, and shouldn't be allowed to continue as a Judge.

| Posted over 4 years ago An Officer would most likely be fired for the same Offense, the judge should be too. The Police Chief above should have been fired, since he was sober. |

| Posted over 4 years ago A great example of the double standard that permeates the criminal justice system. This type of conduct, if committed by a law enforcement officer, would not be tolerated, and would possibly be considered "Brady" material. I am sure the judge will not have to recuse herself from trials involving minority defendants. |

| Posted over 4 years ago The behavior of this judge was dispicable. It is very disappointing that she will be retained on the bench after embarrasing herself and Connecticut bar and judiciary. I am incredulous that her appointment to the bench is not being terminated, in light of the fact she lied to the police when she denied having consumed alchoholic beverages. I always thought the honest and integrity of judges should be beyond reproach. |

BUMP I shall pass through this world but once. Any good therefore that I can do or any kindness that I can show to any human being, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it. For I shall not pass this way again. Unknown |

| Posted over 4 years ago Take heart good compatriots-in-arms: Soon, very soon, the white man (officer) will be an officially recognized minority. The silly us-versus-them push-pull of racial considerations and preferences will dissolve and logic will reign then forevermore. This pathetic (former) judge's tirade would have zero affect, her detainers instead attributing the illogical performance to symptoms of mental disorder and said creature reassigned to fast food preparation. |
