A Connecticut judge who went on a racial tirade against a state trooper following her DUI arrest was suspended for eight months without pay. Was that punishment enough?

no not even close.  if the Officer had treated her like that or said the things that she did, he would be unemployed!  she should never sit as a judge again.

I agree that she should be fired. How can she make a judgment call against others when she is now a criminal also. She should lose her license to drive as well, spend some more time in jail, do lots of community service , attend AA meetiings. Saying she is sorry to the officers is not enough. She should also loose her license to practice law for at least two years.

After reading the news story about her arrest I can only say that I am glad that there were police cameras present during the incident, otherwise we might be seeing her in court claiming "Racism" against the officers involved.  This judge is a total embarrassment to the judicial system and her lame excuse of not realizing what she was saying because she was "Drunk" do not fly on any level.  Her credibility and professionalism are shot.  She should have been dismissed from her judgeship, not just suspended.  You can rest assured that if it had been a LEO caught on tape making those types of comments he/she would be collecting an unemployment check as we speak.  Shame of the state's Judicial Review Board for not firing her instead of suspending her.

LEOs are held to a higher standard, it only makes since that Judges/Lawyers are as we know, ambulance chasers with no standards and that they take care of each other.

Absolutely not. Had an LEO behaved in this fashion and used that kind of language he or she would have lost their job in a heartbeat. So why the double standard?! She obviously no longer possess the wisdom, self control, trust, standing or integrity necessary to sit in judgement of others.

After 40 years as a police officer, I have seem law enforcement officer lose their job or postion for the same thing that she was arrested for. So I do not think 8 month suspension is enough, and after the 8 month be able to sit on the bench again as a criminal judge. I know that any law enforcement officer that follow this case could tell you if i had a dollar for all the times that i heard a subject say that was not me, if i was not drinking this would not of happen.

If the Trooper had done the same thing he would have been fired and probably sued by the judge for violations of her rights.  This is not justice.  She should be held to a higher standard just like law enforcement is held to a higher standard.  Get real!

As a retired officer from Connecticut I can only say that I am not surprised. I watched this video on our local news and I new that she would not be delted with with the same  severity  as others would have.  I think that the reply from the Head of the Hartford, CT NAACP was priceless. When asked if the judge was white would this have been adaquate punishment she stated that she was not sure!  WOW what a double standard

Why are we shocked that this individual has received such a lenient sentence? We all know that if this were a police officer the hue and cry would be "Racist and Bigot!!"

Let us all learn a very valuable lesson from ,yet again, another incident in which a well heeled and connected member of the bar walks scott free.

I feel that the punishment fit the crime, and was a little harsh for a first offense, the Judge learned her lesson, the Judge should also apologize to the officer in both private, and in the media, to stop potential racial tensions.

Officers are taught to be think skinned and not reply or say anything to arreestees when they are being booked, and this officer did the correct thing by reporting the Judge. However, if it had been me I would have allowed it to pass and went on instead of turning it into a situation that is going to get worse before it gets better.

I can understand what "NITERIDER" said. true it will ony get worse before it gets better, BUT if you did not see the entire coverage on this incident then some very important facts were left out. One begin the threat of this troopers job, and she does have the power to make his remaining time misable at best.

She set a very poor example for the judical system and as for racial tension she only make it worse. she made her bed now sleep in it.

This judge showed an inability to hear a case without bias, which means the judge should be removed from the bench for good.

This "Judge" should be made to take a extensive medical  and mental exam.  If she passes both exams, then she needs to be fired :)    If she does not pass both exams, then they need to completely review all cases that came before her bench... making certain there are no biases in her rulings, then fire her :)

ANY PO would FIRED for less than this. A civilian would be prosecuted for the Racial Tirade. She should be FIRED and DISBARRED immediately so she never passes judgement or represents any human being ever again.

My compliments to the State Trooper and Police for maintaining their calm and cool attitudes thru this baseless verbal assault. They are a credit to the job and their departments.

LIke us, she is held to a higher standard.  The DUI alone should have brought her continued service on the bench under great scrutiny and review.  Add to that the racist tirade she launched and that pretty much closes the deal.  She has absolutely no business serving in ANY public office whatsoever.

Its all about being accountable for your actions……did she lose any pay? Has she been disbarred?

She probably just gets a vacation then we will see her in congress like AC Hastings

She should resign and or be removed through administrative process.   He comments and aciton are unacceptable and this been someone who had acted in such a manner, you know that she would be first to demand his job.

So where is Jacksom, sharpton et al. You know if the races were reversed they would all be yelling prejudice and leading protests.

IF being drunk was a viable excuse our jails would be about empty!!!

If the tables were turned then there would be a race war. "Just go softly on them so they don't tie us up in court." seems to be the idea. Would you let a crack head turn another crack head loose with a light sentence if any.
