Are you already in law enforcement, or want to be in law enforcement? Your profile says that you're actively serving as a detective/investigator already, but from reading the post it sounds as though you're wanting to join a department so that you can ultimately be a detective. I only ask because, in my opinion, depending on your status the answer would be different.

Blackdragon, why do you wanna be a detective when you already state that you are? You need to change that to "considering joining".

Is the medication for a chronic condition?

Wait? Clozapine? That is an anti-psychotic for schizophrenia, a strong one too, used to treat drug resistant schizophrenia. That would imply you have been schizophrenic for some time. Are you sure it isn't another drug? Someone with chronic schizophrenia would most likely never be allowed onto the police force.

Just looked up clozapine. Clozapine has few side effects but in 8% of cases the drug needs to be discontinued because of side effects. You need to talk to your doctor.

I just looked up clozapine and, to my surprise, found that it is also used in treatment resistant INSOMNIA, which is what you described as having earlier. Make sure they know you are taking it for insomnia when you talk to the recruitment officer, otherwise they may think you are crazy.

One side affect that it gets changed as a medication is that it can be sedating. You should ask your doctor about if it's OK to skip doses and about if you need to have your white blood count monitored weekly if your not already doing that(due to a side affect).

Your doctor can best advise you if you are physically fit to become a Police Officer. Talk with him/her.
