Posted over 4 years ago Amen! We are all working for the same goals. If only the media saw it that way. Correctional Officers usually get the bad end of the stick when it comes to the media. I have even heard on a morning show that C/O's are the scum of earth.

Posted about 4 years ago I think we are both on the same side trying to achive that goal of safety. However having worked booking for 3 years I have learned real fast how corrections is looked down by many cops and these are usally the cops who have the experiance inside the jail and are doing so much "better" on the streets or atleast that is how it can be here.

Posted about 4 years ago The only time I've ever noticed an "us vs them" type attitude is online and when I'm dealing with private citizens who simply don't have a clue. I've also come across a few former CO's who've gone onto become police with swollen heads but they had the same issue when they were CO's. For the most part I've recieved nothing but the upmost respect from police officers and I return it. I do from time to time have some who step back and say wow when I tell them where I work but then they ask questions and pat me on my back. If you carry yourself like a professional you will be treated as such. The above comments are soley those of the poster and in no way reflect the position of the Department of Corrections.

Posted about 4 years ago It all comes down to earning respect. Nobody is going to respect you just because of your employer, respect must be earned. If, at the end of the day, you can say that you did your best and gave 100% to the taxpayers, then you can be proud regardless of where you work.

Posted about 4 years ago I agree we are all one/working to achieve and make the system work. I work both corrections and road patrol, every now and then we get some young road cop who thinks he is better than corrections. He ussually finds out the hard way when he screws up and his Sgt. tells him he should have listened to us. Everyone STAY SAFE!

| Posted about 4 years ago We are one TEAM, but with two different jobs. PO's put them in, CO's keep them in. You couldn't take a CO and put him into a cruiser to do the PO job and you can't take a PO and put him into the CO job without additional training to either. While it does take both sides to make one coin, they are different. I truely respect and like all of the CO's I've dealt with over the years. Their job is just as dangerous as being on the street. I for one would not want to do what they do for a living. It would drive me crazy seeing all those perps day in and day out.
