Posted over 4 years ago Hello, I'm new to the site. My husband has been a police officer for the local Pd for the past 3 years. Being in law enforcement has always been my dream, but pushed aside to raise a family. 35 is the cutoff age for this department, so being 35 i applied, passed the physical and written test, and the background. Next step is oral board. I'm in the top 5 for the job. My question is: Is it possible for my husband and i to work together, stay happily married and raise 4 younge children?? Anyone tried?? |

| Posted over 4 years ago As a matter of fact, I can. My husband has been on the dept. for 20 years, that is where I met him. At first things were a little hectic, because you are always listening for each other's radio traffic. So, the Lt. talked to us about it because it was interfering with work and I decided to step down as I too wanted children. As time went on I joined a diiferent dept., but recently, we talked to the higher ups on his dept. since he is now a Sgt. and on a different district, and they have asked me to come back provided I stay on a seperate district. Right now, everything is working out great! So, yes, it can be done, but you have to seperate yourselves in order for it to work. |

| Posted almost 4 years ago My husband and I work for different departments but my department would require us to work different shifts if we worked for the same department. At first we worked the same shift so we got to always listen for each other but after we had a baby I went to days so we could swtich off taking care of him. It works out well for us and we get two whole days off together. It can be done, it just takes time and effort. Good luck to you. |

| Posted almost 4 years ago My husband and I are both in LE. We started dating while at the same agency, but he left for the SO while I stayed at the PD. I prefer it that way because, as someone mentioned, we listened to each others radio traffic. It's NOT a good feeling to hear your spouse in trouble. I think it can work, though. If you truly love each other than it does not really matter, you’ll be fine, and it may even make thing stronger your shared commitment. |

| Posted almost 4 years ago I'm very glad to hear that it works out for a lot of couples on here as well as where my husband works. I'm considering applying with the Department my husband works either before the academy or after.
