I was just wondering what different facilities allowed their trustees to do, and what they are not allowed to do.

LOL  Well I would answer this one , but since you know already......

For the rest of the people that don't know.... The trustees ( Run Arounds ) here have run of the building. They can do just about what they want when they want to. If we punish em, they'll get all their privalges back. It's crazy and no one understands it, but not much we can do

We don't have trustees, we call them inmate workers. They are the weakest link in the security of the facility, I don't know why they would be allowed to run around and do whatever they want. That is just asking for trouble.

We have 3 "Inmate Workers" during the day and usually 1 during the night.  Day Inmate Workers assist kitchen staff with filling & stacking trays and pushing the carts to general population and they also do a little cleaning & laundry.  Night Inmate Workers do general cleaning (sweeping, mopping, buffing, etc...).  If an Inmate applies to be a Inmate Worker, every officer that has delt with that particular Inmate has to approve him to be moved to Inmate Worker status.  We are not hesitant in the least to pull an Inmate Worker and place them back in general population.

The name itself is something that just isn't right. I would still not trust them. ALL prisoners should be either made to work or sit in their cell which is bare with no TV, radio, books, etc.

We have different levels of trustees. Some full minimus get to work with our maintenance officers. The inmates do most of the work, the officer just monitors or tells them what to do. Others run trays, the inmates eat in their housing units, dish out the meals fo inmates and clean the common corridors while the inmates sleep. They clean our admissions area and medical areas. The inmates in the areas are responsible for their own. I think that about covers it.

I don't trust the "trustees" or cellhouse help as we call them and for obvious reason. Of the workers allowed out on my shift the go to con is a lifer who reminds us daily that he is a convicted murderer serving life "who knows what might be on my mind in the morning, this is prison." He also taught me how to do my job- strange.............

The above comments are soley those of the poster and in no way reflect the position of the Department of Corrections.

We have different levels of trustees, but you cannot trust any of them. We have the reds that are unsupervised inmates that work our carwash and ground maintenance.  The greens either work in the kitchen to help cook and serve the food.  Lastly we have more greens that can only work in the laundry room.  Our greens have to be supervised at all times.  I personally do not trust or converse with the inmates.  I treat all the vinmates from the murders to the ones that are their for tickets all the same way, they are aollo convicts to me.

We don't use the "trustees" we call them inmate workers.  Our inmate workers are allowed to work inside the jail as laundry, kitchen, floor cleaners.  We do have some inmate workers that can work outside but they are supervised at all times.  The only way an inmate can become a worker in to be classified low risk and have less than 1 yr to do.
