Posted over 5 years ago Is anyone familiar with DynCorp and how they operate? I am considering applying for a year contract in the Middle East and was wondering if anyone else had done it or knows anyone who did? |

| Posted over 5 years ago Yes...the money went up after I finished my contract...but it does take a toll on family life..if you have a strong family and support then you can get through it....I think about going back sometimes... |

| Posted over 5 years ago Well yes and no...when I was there Dyncorp kinda threw you to the wolves. I left there in March 2006, from what I hear things have gotten a littler better. When I first got there in 2004 we had to live in Military housing...but Dyncorp was building their own camps within a military base....these arepretty nice. one man hooches, they had their own showers, bathroom, internet access, TV, etc....You also have to remember you are in a war zone..I went through IED's AK fire, and mortar attacks. |

| Posted over 5 years ago Just returned fro Afghanistan with Dyn... PAST in Virginia was an 80 hr breeze, nothing to it, the PT test is a little tough, but not bad.. The money is great and its in the bank every 28 days.. The logistics can be a mess sometimes, but all in all its not bad at all... Just have to remember you are going to be in a 3rd world & war torn country(s)Very rough on a family man. They do have their own camps and most housing is not bad at all now depending on your location in country military bases are close with a PX and all the supplies you need....Just get use to IED's, riding around in armored vehicles, being a target everyday and the stinch is horrible! I would not go again, but thats me. No you cant negotiate more money or time off at first, but if ya finish a contract it may be possible for more money... Hope I was a help.......Good luck to you... |
