| Posted about 4 years ago Yeah, it's always been my thought "Don't say it online, if you would not say it to your spouse or coworker" Apparently, alot of people hide behind their screen. It's always nice to compliment someone, but watch what you say, others might not intrepret it that way. A failure is someone who quit trying. |

| Posted about 4 years ago Just a thought, but, if some one feels THAT determined to send those kind of comments, why wouldn't they just send private messages, and then that way, no one gets confused hurt feelings etc etc and if there IS a conflict, at least, it could be handled in a more confidential manner? And go from there.I mean, we all make mistakes, and say and do things innocently enough, but, that s just tachy.Just an opinion, you know how those go.LOL Faith Hope Love and Laughter |

| Posted about 4 years ago KarenLee is right. There is a time and a place for everything. We should watch what we PUT UP to be VIEWED as well as what we comment. *I* even think the "showin' some love" glittery graphics are not only CHEESY but they seem just plain TACKY. They are well meant more than likely but yeah... THINK about how it looks BEFORE you post it up there! So far you have all been very kind and respectful and I thank you for that. Maggie AND YEAH.... BUMP!

| Posted about 4 years ago Good to see someone looking out for the folks Buzz PS: Being new here I have no idea what "Bump" means, but I assume it is like Aye Aye as we use it in the Navy "Understand and will comply" So BUMP (that actually felt pretty good) "A policeman's beat is the last outpost of civilization." by 'bumping' a topic, you are helping it move towards the top of the boards so it gets more attention. It also lets the poster know you have read and understand the post. Hope this helps |

| Posted about 4 years ago many may think they are complimenting the ones who post by giving an inappropriate comment however I agree that it is not the kind of example we should be setting |

| Posted about 4 years ago A "friend" posted a body function cartoon on my wall. I sent him a polite pm and told him I didn't like seeing comments/cartoons like that and I was probably old enough to be his mother, and that I would never even think of posting something like that on anyone's wall. That PL, for all it's members is an open forum. He sent me a very polite apology, removed the comment, AND removed me as a friend. Very mature. When I post a wall comment, I have to admit it takes a long time to find one that's tasteful, since the majority are tasteless. And, as a female, I would say many women are just as bad when it comes to posting on men's walls. On occasion, I have taken as long as 30 minutes to find something that doesn't deal with bodily functions, sex, or great amount of nudity. If I were a married man working on PL and left the computer for a few minutes, I would worry about what my wife and/or children would think if they saw a post from a woman, and would probably ask daddy some pointed questons about what the lady in an animation was doing. We're all adults here. There are several sites I've bookmarked. Satisfaction has one "Thanks for the Add" that's a western drawing of 2 horses looking at a new horse drinking at their trough. Tasteful, artsy, and pure as the driven snow. Took me about 20 screens before I found it, and I use it most of the time. I have a few other sites bookmarked. When I invite someone to be my friend, I look at their photos... if I see wife (or husband), children, holiday photos, grandparents, FAMILY - invite that person. The same goes when someone invites me. If I see nothing but self-portraits with pouty lips, hair hanging over one eye, or working out pumping iron, they're totally self-centered. and.................BUMP "The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are as bold as a lion." - Proverbs 28:1 ** Administrator, Officer Down Group : Line of Duty Deaths

| Posted about 4 years ago The easy way for a member to deal with these situations, is to not post a response to any of the photos posted in poor taste on PL. But, there are officers and non LEOs on here that are looking for that type of activity. i wish they would move on and open a myspace or Facebook account. I am sure there is plenty of activity there to keep them busy. The Moderators are watching the comments being posted very closely, and we will sanction a member for an inappropriate comment. |

| Posted about 4 years ago I myself just found this site and the first day my profile was up I received a message about how iIlooked. I don't mind a nice complament every ounce in awhile but not right away get to know a person first please. When I get comments like that right away my first thought is PERVERT ALERT !!!!! |

| Posted almost 4 years ago The only thing that comes to my mind is by our actions we are known. An individual stands accountable for their actions or non actions and to make comments that could prove embarassing to oneself or their profession is dangerous. Think before you act. Be professional, be respectful and go from there. |

| Posted almost 4 years ago I'm just a civilian and am quite new to the forum, yet immediately it was obvious to me how professionally everyone in general conducts themselves on this forum. Okay, ya'all do cut up a fair bit, yet in general in its always in a very funny and lighthearted way. Thats all good since I'm sure that LEOs find this forum to be both relaxing and stress relieving at the same time. And that is what any good forum should be about -- community, respect, integrity and friendships. There is no room for posting lewd comments about personal photos. Like xveronicax26 says, a nice compliment every once in a while seems fine and appropriate to me -- after you actually get to know someone a bit first -- and even then any comment should be both sincere and complimentary. Otherwise, I say give them the axe and tell them to hop on over to an online dating forum. Colonel Sandurz: Prepare ship for light speed.
