I have issued a traffic citation to the following famous people in Nashville, Tennessee

Eddie George (former Titans fullback)     Frank Wycheck (former Titans tight end)    Joe Diffey (country singer)   Trishia Yearwood (country singer)    and my all time favorite....... Vince Gill (singer married to Amy Grant)

Can any officer top this list?

This was not my first arrest, but it was memorable. I was northbound on California Blvd in Chicago when I noticed a civilian waving franticly to get my attention. I curved my vehicle and the civilian identified herself as ASA Hanigan. See pointed out a black SUV occupied 4X with 1 f/b and 3 m/b subjects. I observed 2 of the subjects

Attempting to gain entry into a 1995 Honda Civic. I called it in and approached the subjects who immediately jumped into the SUV and fled the scene. After radioing the incident in to have someone preserve my crime scene, I gave pursuit. Of course that was when we could still chase a bad guy/gal. I picked up a few Chicago units during the following of the suspect vehicle, which lasted about 10 minutes. They went over a curve and blew several tires. It then became a foot pursuit down an alley where I lost sight of the driver and his crew.

I requested my now posse of 7 to stop and listen. I was listening for the sound of any dogs barking. We heard several dogs barking but one was more aggressively barking. We responded to the house next door to the barking dog, who seemed to be pointing the way to a basement door slightly ajar. After knocking and entering I noticed a elderly couple sitting rather uncomfortably on the couch and a male subject standing close by in the nude. On the table were a pager, a ten-dollar bill and some change.

I questioned the couple who stated the subject ran into their house and took off all of his clothes and offered his worldly belonging, which were the items on the table to not say anything should the police find him. He was taken into custody and admitted to being a member of an auto theft ring. I later found out that the CPD had been trying to catch this ring for 3 years. They were responsible for the theft of over 600 vehicles in the past 5 years in operation in the Chicago area. The honorable mention from CPD was rather nice, and the sight of him standing there we ma and pa looking at him in amazement told me he didn’t belong as soon as I step inside the door.

I had no doubt he was one of the offenders after looking at the faces of all parties inside. I was kind of glad since that faint cry for help allowed me entry. I sure everyone heard it, didn’t you.

When I was still a Part Time Cop years ago, I was working in a small Oklahoma Town and arrested the Mayor for tearing up one of my moving violations that I gave to his cousin (Obstruct a Police Officer in the Performance of His/Her Duties).

In 1963 I wrote up the County Sherrifs wife for speeding on the post at Ft.Jackson,SC.Later that day I was advised by the Provost Marshal to rip up the ticket, two days later they sent me to work at the post stockade where I could not write any more tickets.

HUMM.................I can't top the list of "well knowns" but every body I seem to have stopped - cited - arrested - field interviewed - helped - escorted - aided in any way - generally encountered...(well you get the picture)...............ALL OF 'EM seemed to THINK they were somebody famous - or at least that's what they all tried to say.......and the few who did not have a claim to fame all SAID THEY were RELATED to SOMEONE who they obviously THOUGHT was  famous..............OOHH YEAH - one other type always claimed to KNOW some officer somewhere.

It is what it is.............and.........these things too shall pass.

I wrote a professional baseball player and a professional football player. They try to sway you with the promise of tickets. A former co worker of mine stopped Clayton Moore (The Lone Ranger) however, let him off with a verbal warning. He did tell me he was star struck regarding the stop.

LOL Michelle! I know Julia Roberts, so maybe that'll come in handy if I do ever get pulled over.

So the return line might be something like. . . ."Well, you can now tell Miss Roberts that you received a written reminder not to speed and maybe she will have some ideas for you on how to take care of that little issue.  Something along the lines of leaving a little earlier maybe?"

I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, and I won't be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to other people and I expect the same from them.

Oh yeah!  The line "leaving a little earlier maybe" brings back memories for me when I got pulled in Cary, NC for driving to fast, following a vehicle too close, and not yielding to a red light on a right hand turn... I got a warning and a lecture on saftey by the Officer.  LOL...
