Posted over 4 years ago I am looking for opinions of other corrections officers that feel that security checks are the most important aspect of the job. My department requires that a visual (Physical) check be done at a minimum of every half hour. I agree with this policy 100%. However I am interested in hearing the arguments that say an electronic check or sound check are sufficient. |

| Posted over 4 years ago There is no substitute for physically checking detainee's. I doubt the state is ever going to change their policy on this so no need to worry!! by the way great name!!!! |

| Posted over 4 years ago I agree 110% with walk around security checks. Whether youre in a short tier like our seg unit or a long one like or new commits/reclass unit you can NEVER see everything, short of cameras in each hut I feel you need to put your eyes everywhere. just my 2 cents |

| Posted over 4 years ago One thing about physical checks that I've noticed is that the Inmates/residents/scumbags (what have you), EXPECT to see you. They limit thier own time for mischeif becuase of your impending arrival. Makes a real point for mixing up the times for checks and not just doing them every hour on the hour etc. |
