| Posted about 1 year ago I admit, being able to wear my gun when and where I want to is a big perk of being a peace officer. When I am working, if I am on a warrant not considered high risk in which case I am sporting a shotgun or AR, I make it a point to wear my pistol in plain view. It serves to purposes, both as an instrument of intimidation (to go along with all around officer presence) and frankly to kill people if the need arises. No mincing words here, the purpose of the gun is to kill...thats all it knows how to do. |

| Posted 11 months ago LMFAO! I guess people who carry legally don't shot themselves in the legs at clubs. "Amateurs talk hardware. Professionals talk software. It doesn't matter what's in your hand or between your legs. It matters what's in your heart and in your head." - Lt. Col. Dave Grossman |

This is great!! Conduct every traffic stop extending the olive branch of peace; while having a tactical plan to kill everyone inside the vehicle.

| Posted 10 months ago I carry a gun for all these reasons and more. I believe that to whom much is given, much is required. I have been blessed with many gifts. I am 57 and my health is as good as anyone 25 years old. I can still do all the things I did then and in some cases more. I have a drive inside me that is unlike any other person I have ever known, I have no time that say stop if I believe in something or if I believe something is wrong. I am also gifted in art and with animals. I have several beautiful children and grandchildren. I live in a country where laws are not aways right and people are not always treated right , but we have the right to speak out against injustice and fight until we get it changed and made right. I also believe that Warriors are born to protect those who unable to protect themselves or who are blessed with other gifts such as doctors, teachers, lawyers, firemen, farmers, ranchers homemakers ect.... I may not be a good doctor or teacher or fireman or farmer or rancher. But I am good protector. I know my business and I am good at it. One should always follow the path of the things that you do the best. These are just a few of the other reasons I carry a gun. But the BIGGEST reason I carry a gun is because there are people who don't believe in same things and have the same valves I have, and would take my rights to have these beliefs and values away from me. |

| Posted 10 months ago Very well said. But now there is a new tool. I dont waste time on criminals I carry a taser, to take them to jail.
It a lot easier then taking time off. Time are to hard right now not to be working. |

| Posted 10 months ago Amen to that! The only fair fight is the one you win by any means. With criminals I will use anything to get the job done! Been shot at too many times, not to carry a gun, on or off duty! It is a violent world now and you have to be prepared! |

| Posted 8 months ago I carry a gun most everywhere I go because I prefer being the wolf, not the sheep. I forgot which post I was talking about this, but we were talking about a lady getting robbed one day and we all wished it would have been one of us instead but that never happens. The reason is we carry ourselves like a wolf, especially when we are armed. Most people would rather go find the baddest sheep then mess with the weakest wolf. That being said it has also saved me on a few occasions, one of which I was off duty sitting in a parking lot when a group of gang members that I had arrested several times came up to my car and were talking about me being off duty. Turns out a new group has spawned from LTC Grossman's analogy, I call them Hyenas. They run in packs and can be strong when they work together. When the wolf turns on them presenting his claws they run away. |

I agree with you Bulldog, very well said! I have started noticing the same things myself lately. Brave little groups of critters who like starting crap with the honest folks around town, but who slink off the moment they see one of us coming. I carry everywhere I go because bad things can happen in the most unlikely circumstances and I want to be able to protect myself or someone else if I have to. I was involved in an incident like the one you mention a few weeks ago when I was walking out of a store in the early AM, off duty. A group of thugs were standing in the shadows of the parking lot and started towards me when they saw me walking towards my car. I could tell they were looking for trouble by the way they were spreading out in front of me and the vibes they were putting off. I stopped, put my bags down and reached back and unholstered my sidearm under my jacket. I never took it out from under the jacket but only a fool would have mistaken what I was doing and these four may have been jackals, but they understood what I had just done. They stopped and stared at me for a few moments, then took the smart option and turned around and left the area. I kept and eye on them until they went around a corner then I went back inside and let the employees inside the Safeway know what had happened and told them to be careful if they went outside. I then called the local sheriff's dispatch and asked them to have a patrol swing through the area and keep an eye on things in case those mutts decided to screw with someone else who would not have realized what they were up to. I don't go looking for trouble when I am off duty but like a lot of cops it finds me from time to time. I would much rather be a good sheepdog or even occasionally mistaken for a wolf, than to turn myself into another defenseless sheep by not carrying. Be safe everyone! Nemo Me Impune Lacessit! |

| Posted 6 months ago Lets face it, its a cold cruel world out there and being a LEO makes it that more dangeruos. I don't worry about carrying a gun if I'm alone, I carry one anyway, dut when I'm out with my wife and kids I don't want to have to deal with a knucklehead and his cronnies I had dealings with in the past. A few months ago a friend of mine, also police, was at an indoor amusemnent facility when he asked a a guy to stop cursing in front of his kids. This P.O.S. stopped cussing his friend and started cursing him and then he took it further by trying to jump my friend. He and his buddy started to fight with the officer and to keep from being seriously injured he had to pull his weapon. Once he displayed his gun these two "upstanding members of my community" left the scene in a bit of a hurry, probably for some clean underwear. My friend had some bumps and bruises but it could have been far worse had he not had his gun. The two guys that jumped him were pretty good sized compared to him. As a side note this was all over the local news and a few people complained to the police and to the management that "HE" was carring a gun but not the two who were causing a scene and assaulting another person. To the credit of the business they stood by the officer and welcomed the fact that he had been carrying a gun. Some Lead and some follow. Which one are You! Never Forget The Fallen Who Have Paid The Ultimate Sacrifce. |
