I'm a deputy sheriff in Idaho (Payette) with seven years of service. I have been collecting patches since 1995, but have since concentrated my efforts to collecting every Idaho law enforcement patch from the first issue to the current issue as well as all the special units, badge patches, etc. I'm trying to compile the history behind these patches as well and hopefully honor those officers who've laid the foundation down from Idaho's early law enforcement days. It's neat to hear the stories of yesterday where the sap was used and 24 hour coverage was unheard of. After all, who knows what the newbies will think when we grow old and retire or if they'll remember our legacies we left. So I'm hoping to preverve and promote some of our state's law enforcement history.

I have started a website to showcase my Idaho collection. If you have an Idaho patch that I do not have featured, please let me know as I'd gladly trade or purchase it to add the patch to my collection. Or if you know of someone who has one of the patches I need, feel free to contact me or have them contact me. While I have over 1,100 different Idaho law enforcement patches, I'm still missing around another 300 to my knowledge with some patches dating from the 1950's to current. Please understand that at this time I'm just focusing my efforts on Idaho patches to complete my display and am not trading department for department patch outside of Idaho ones.

My website is listed below and I welcome any feedback or comments you have to make it better.

Thanks for the comment!  It's been a lot of work to keep the website updated and within the next couple of months there will certainly be more updates to come.

Nice site Ryan, you've put some serious work into your collection, and your effort to record the history of your state is impressive. Someone in every state should do that!

I appreciate all the great feedback.  I finally updated the site - over 45 sub pages, just recently.  It was in great need of an update of information.

CSP067 - I agree.  It would be great to have someone record the history for each state.  There are some people I know that collect specific states, but I am unsure how much of the history they are obtaining to complement the patches.  I know one who is working on Minnesota and another who is working on Colorado.  I don't know of anyone that is working on preserving the history for Connecticut but hope that someone is making those efforts to preserve the legacies.

tpd_chaplain - I like the idea of Chaplain patches, especially since it irritates extremist groups like the ACLU and others.  The chaplains do a lot of great work that is often under appreciated and un recognized.  The only Chaplain patch that sticks out in my mind right now is Franklin, Wisconsin, although I'm sure there are others.
