Posted over 3 years ago Thank you gudercop for encouraging me back then to put "The Listening Ears of Children" back on. I want LE especially to realize at least one of the reasons they are held to higher standards....children are watching you.....someone like me really needed to see the difference many years ago.....and thankfully I did...and I will forever be grateful. dolphinblue-Sherry

Posted over 3 years ago you have truly transcended above surviving and have become a conqueror! God Bless you and all your efforts in this world. I have a family member who is also a survivor of sexual abuse and i pray everyday that she will rise above the pain and use it to further God's kingdom as you have. Thank you so much for sharing this story for it has also given me a better understanding of those that have suffered this abuse. May the Lord be with you till you go to be with him in paradise where there is no pain and no tears!

Posted over 3 years ago I have no words. Thank you for sharing. You and those children are the reason most of us get up every morning and put on a vest and a gun and go to work. We all took the oath. And every officer, of all the different paths, dread finding out we've let something like that "slip" past us. That is why we all try to remain ever vigilant and watchful. Those in my line of work check residences to see if evidence of child abuse appears (especally with sex offenders) PL's Dedicated Vetting Agent

Posted over 3 years ago Wow, how does one respond to a story such as yours. One could not even begin to imagine the things you have been through at such a young age. I believe without any doubt that God has been with you from day one. He has a great plan in store for you. You truly are an angel in my eyes. I wish you all the luck and happiness in the world you really do deserve it. I wish you continued success with all that you do and hope that so many in this world can and will learn from you and your story. May God continue to be with and bless you always.

Posted over 3 years ago Wow, God is truly a good God and he truly loves his children. During the worst time of your life he took you into his loving arms and protected you not only physically but spritually. God had a plan for you even when these monsters were harming you. A plan for good not evil. I am truly touched by your story and know our Father in heaven will use you mightly. God bless.

Posted over 3 years ago Sherry...there is a song I heard long ago, called "..thank God for kids"...a country song..that says, "...if it wasn't for...kids, there wouldn't be a Santa.."..and so forth...He works if "mysterious ways"..to us, BUT HE knows what is planned and the paths we should take...thank God for "people like you, Sherry, that so many will depend on...and have already...

Posted over 3 years ago Sherry, I don't no what to say.... As I read your story i was enraged with anger! The fact that this could happen to a little girl was almost more than I could bare!! But I would like to think I am a very perceptive person, and then It came to me. I believe everything happens for a reason. Reagardless of how horrific the situation may be. You are obviously much much stronger than your average person, and maybe you went through these events because God knew you were one of the only people on earth the could handle something like this and still manage to keep your wits about you, to do something positive with it later ( as an LEO) I have absolutely NO doubt you will become a cop! and more likely than not...you will encounter a situation where your experiance will help another not quit as strong as you survive! A situation Where no other Officer would recoginize the signs, that only you will be able to! well thats just a hunch...but I'll bet money God has a pretty important mission for you! GoodLuck...let us know when you get on ;)

Posted over 3 years ago Sherry aka DolphinBlue, I am so sorry you had to go through those terrible events in your life. I sincerely wish I could have been there for you. You make no mention of what happened to your abusers. I can only hope they met with cruel and untimely deaths or that they will. The Almighty God has seen your suffering and will dispense His justice upon them. You may even see some of them enter your hospital. Iam happy and proud that you survived and have chosen NOT to remain a victim for the rest of your life. You certainly have cause to and it would be easy to fall back on but I hope and pray you continue to be strong. Keep your head up ! God's word says "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". You certainly are a walking, talking testimony of His strength and grace. As you choose your career path continue to walk with Him and show no mercy to the perverts that cross your path. I don't ! As far I am concerned God can show them mercy if He chooses but I throw the book at them. Stay in touch and let me know how you are doing. Semper Fidelis, Patric A. Gibson

Posted over 3 years ago Instant de'ja vu,lady! After 55 years the memories are still just as vivid and always there.....shaping who you are and coloring every aspect of your life.....in my case I knew only rage and hatred for so long I did not know what love was supposed to be like.....grew up ,married,(was not able to give to spouse any physical or emotional response to any degree and marriages always ended....the problem was with me and it took a very special man to understand what the problem was and how to help me finally be able to tell someone why I was so anti-social and distrustful .....thank fully he did not shoot me or back away when all the rage manifested itself..(he would have been justified in using deadly force at the time) he held on and endured me at my worst...no one had ever seen that side of me and I hope no one ever does again....it is the reason I never chose to wear the uniform and that is the knowledge that I could get so angry that I was capable of killing someone....it is a sickening realization but it is there ...now when I get upset(and it takes an awful lot to get me upset) I go off by myself until it goes away and I'm ok.....I could never let my children see me angry or anyone else....I never let my kids know about my childhood....I just made sure they never had to worry about anything happening to them...children DO remember ......I, for one will always remember.......there should be no mercy for anyone who abuses a child or anyone else....I was 5 yrs old and am now 60 but I can remember every detail and every instance and every emotion and the promise I made to kill my stepbrother as soon as I was big enough..imagine! A 5 yr old planning murder! That should be enough to make every adult on the planet think twice! It all comes back to making choices as to how we cope with our memories....and our pain.....we have to go deep and get to really know ourselves and decide who we want to be....control our lives or let the actions of others control it for us...I am grateful for your decision to speak out...it takes tremendous courage to do that....I am also thankful that one lawman took it upon himself to show me how it felt to be able to love someone and have that love returned for so many years...love has proven to be a greater force than anything I know of......Bless you all!

Posted over 3 years ago semi-crazy1...once you are free from your abuser/s choices are what it is all about. I am glad you came to the point where you could let go and move on.....just remember you are not your past. Do not believe what he tried to tell you or persuade you to believe about yourself.....he owns the abuse and you own the victory. God bless and keep you strong. dolphinblue-Sherry

Posted over 3 years ago Sherry, Reading this, I started to get the shivers as I anticipated what was coming. My last case in Pro-active was a child protection issue where the victims father's "gift to himself" on his 40th birthday was to rape his own daughter. This continued on for some time until my colleagues and I uncovered it all. He was sentenced at Crown Court and fortunately still resides at Her Majesty's pleasure. Your story is one of remarkable strength!
