Thank you k9copgrl09, chrissanders, and T_Bear for your responses.  Life, no matter what befalls us, is about choices and how we are going to live our life, independent of external influences.  Knowing ourself and keeping our eyes focused and on our goals will go far in avoiding the pull of negative influences and perceptions.

Some times we are unaware of how God places us where he knows we should be, and how Jesus Christ helps us there. Powerful story.

This is so sad but true, sadly happening today.

I endured 10 years of violence, I'm a survivor of domestic abuse, and thanks to all those police officers, an with the support of other law enforcement, today I'm a fighter, a strong women, with only one goal, to join them in protecting those who cant.

You are an inspiration!

I am so very glad you survived your domestic violence yanirislflores.  You are courageous and brave beyond your years and your insight gained from those unfortunate years will be of value in your pursuit of LE.  May God bless and protect your pathway.

Thank you most sincerly for your response clukesmith.  I am only one of many who use a difficult time in their life to help encourage others to realize that they can survive, conqueor and move past any tragedy that befalls them.  Abuse survivors are strong beyond belief.  They  survived their circumstances with determination and perserverance.  It is their abuser that is the weak one, not them.

What a remarkable story of victory from the bowels of what could have been hopeless despair.  You are an inspiration to countless victims of abuse.  Thank you for your support of L.E. I also want to thank you for the warm welcome and reaching out  and want to be a friend.   D.P.

Hi, this is Mrs. APD108 again,

There is a song that comes to mind, a Christian contemporary song, when I think of people who are out there serving the people of this world..........in WHATEVER capacity that may be.  I pray that survivors, such as Sherry is showing here on this discussion topic, can one day see that what we have been through can come to good use in this world.  I think Sherry, but a lot of others of you that read this topic that are LEOs or work in other public service in some way, will like this song like I do.  The video is a good one, too.  Here are just some of the lyrics to whet your appetite to want to watch the video:

"I want to leave a LEGACY,

How will they remember me?,

Did I chose to love?

Did I point to you enough to leave a mark on things?"

also.....

"Just want to hear instead,

'Well, done, good and faithful one.'"

Thank you, Mrs. APD108 for this link.  I believe it is the mission of LE,  other service oriented professions, and many in the  general public at large,  to leave a legacy.  Our media is so bombarded by the evil that happens in the world, and takes little time in reporting the selfless acts of kindness and mercy that go on around us every single day.  Of course, for those acts of kindess we do not need media acclaim...the reward is found deep inside us and from the expressons of those who have been helped..

Once again, HI.  Sherry, I sincerely hope that I misunderstood your response to mine and that you weren't thinking that I was implying or the song was implying that people who help others should want media acclaim.  I merely meant to say that I like the song because it talks about NOT wanting to leave that kind of legacy.  That it is about helping others and that God will hopefully say to us one day, "Well done, good and faithful one."  I thought that this being on the "GOD's Cops" discussion board that this song was very appropriate.

In His name and with HIs love,

Kate

No misunderstanding Kate.  I know this song well.  The joy of giving of ourself comes from within, from God working through us.

Sherry,

Thank you for posting this. I am not a parent, but there is no other crime I detest more. Your strength in adversity is an inspiration. There are so many, far too many, people who have experienced your situation and haven't found your strength. You are an ispiration of hope to them and everyone. I pray they find your peace and are comforted by learning from your experience and in what you have written.
