Posted over 3 years ago I know of a child that has lived with severe tramua, being raped and molested all her life. she is now an adult but she keeps a wall around her all the time, she hates cops, and don't trust anybody not even her family, I've tried to help her cause I know what she has gone through, we both have been hurt by men, she keeps telling me of a cop that molested her when she was just 5yrs old but nobody ever believed her and it wasn't never reported, I'm sure the people are dead by now, I'm hoping I can bring the wall down that she hides behind and show her that all men aren't bad, there may be some hope fer her but there's no hope fer me anymore, I plainly don't trust people, my human family keeps telling me they love me but from what I went through I can't believe them, fact I've given all my love to my feral (wild) cats. I volunteer at an animal shelter to be around animals, I prefer them over humans, but it's getting to the point where I can't even trust the animal control which I've known fer many yrs. the fact is nobody listened to me or this other child when we were growing up, I'm the only person she does trust and I plan on keeping it that way. colt45

Posted over 3 years ago i am one example of a survior. i was molested, beat, held hostage, force to beat my sister, forced to watch my family being abused by the one person that i was suppose to idealize. my father did all these things to me and my family and still to this day he says that he never did it but my family and i have the memories and everytime i hear a one song i always have a nightmare making me feel like i am distant from the ones i care about. my current girlfriend knows about it all and since we have been together i have had the nightmare but she always makes me realize that im not distant from everybody as my father once had me to believe. its when we get over our past and look to the future is when we fully heal from the demons that harmed us when we were so young. not everyone can fully heal from their demons but that is what we have our friends for, to keep us sane, if i havent had the friends i did through out school i probably wouldnt be here to write this message of support for others. you dont have to tell everyone what happened but as long as you dont distance yourself from those who care about you the most it makes it easier to cope. in my junior year of high school i wrote a paper and it didnt say what happened to me but it allowed people to understand me better and by my senior year i had alot of people that cared about me that i was able to start to open up to my closest friends and they werent judgemental like i thought they would be. everyday children go through things that most people couldnt even imagine let alone realize that its even happening. so to everyone that has had a tramatic life when they were younger my heart goes out to you and for those that have only heard stories my heart goes out to you as well. no matter what stories cant fully explain the pain that these children had to go through but never forget that someone next to you could of been one of these children. just dont judge people by the ghost that haunt them but judge them by who they are and how strong they are for surviving the years they spent in hell.

Posted over 3 years ago I am very moved by your experience; it is more than I can imagine or could hope to undertand. Right now I work on Elder Abuse cases and though that can be a tough and frustrating job, the thought of working with abused children is probably more than I could handle; I did work with registered sex offenders here and that was a real test of my sense of responsibility and duty. I had to move on from that detail becuase I could not deal with the nature of those offenders. Good luck with your quest, I believe you will succeed.

Posted over 3 years ago Bob_A ...thank you for your response and especially your care and concern and work with elder abuse cases. They are yet another population of society that due to age, dementia, and many other conditions are often taken advantage of and abused. Thank you for your efforts in that area of LE. dolphinblue-Sherry

| Posted over 3 years ago Wow Sherry, what a powerful story to share. I CANNOT fathom how people can be so cruel to innocent children. I wish I could rid the world of those kind of people. I am so sorry you had to go through all of that. I am so glad you turned into the person you are today, that is amazing. Most people would have used that kind of childhood as an excuse for criminal behavior but you turned it into something positive. Thank you.
P.S. I have to fix my eye make-up now!

Posted over 3 years ago Thank you Sara37...and that is why I want to get into public speaking....to try and give youth and adults some measure of hope and courage ... that they need first respect and value themselves and then realize what a tremendous gift and valuable and worthy person they can be in their community. ...no one needs to turn to alcohol and drugs and inappropriate behavior to get their needs met...it comes from the inside out . If youth learn to respect and have dignity for themselves, they will emulate that in their community and social relationships. Choices matter. dolphinblue-Sherry

Posted over 3 years ago I think thats why we pursue to become cops. Either something has happened to us in the past or we just have that burning desire to help someone. But I think truely we just want to help others who cannot help themselves.

Posted over 3 years ago Sherry- I'm 23, and have been working the streets for 2 years now, working for the Galveston, TX Police Department. Everytime I come in to contact with teenagers and children, I try to make the time to talk to them, to try and get them to better themselves. I've often spent an hour or two talking, listening, trying to get through to children. Never knowing if they're listening. Thinking back to my days of a child (not that long ago), and wondering if they were like me, drifting in and out of the conversation. Your story has taught me that children do listen, and that those little lessons we try to teach may be the glimmer of hope a child needs to become great. I wish you well in your endeavor in Law Enforcement. I would love to see you expand and start teaching your message to Officers on a broader level. I think it's a valuable lesson. I am a Sheepdog. I live to protect the flock and confront the wolf. ...But what if you have a capacity for violence, and a deep love for your fellow citizens? Then you are a sheepdog, a warrior, someone who is walking the hero’s path. Someone who can walk into the heart of darkness, into the universal human phobia, and walk out unscathed.

Posted over 3 years ago Thank you viper447 for your interest and interaction with children/youth....as you said children of any age can drfit in and out of the conversaton...but you can believe their ears will perk up and they wont miss a beat if it is something they need or are longing to hear. I will gladly talk to any LE agency anywhere anytime.....I withhold much information here, for good reason If you choose I would be interest in a pm concerning specifically what would be of interest. dolphinblue-Sherry

| Posted over 3 years ago Sherry, Thank you for sharing your story. After a bit, I began to realize that this story was about your experience as a child. Your story is heartbreaking, my heart cries for the little girl and her friends. At the same time, I am delighted that you have taken your pain and are using it for the glory of God by helping others. Although not statanic in ritual, I did experience sexual abuse by many as a toddler, all the way up until I ran away at age 15. I would like to say that it stopped then, but I experienced a different kind of sexual abuse by my first husband and later by men that claimed to care about me. Thank God I now am blessed with a very loving husband who is a complete opposite of the men in my past. Sadly though, the shell that I have developed as protection from all the bad stuff has hindered me from developing many loving and caring relationships outside of my family... mostly immediate family. I only let in my husband, children and grand-children to the deepest wells of my heart. All others must earn that privilege. I'm working on this, by allowing God to mold me. I'm still a work in progress and hopefully His grand plan for me will soon be revealed. Blessings,
Olivia (Mrs. MHP100) & Proud Mom of a United States Marine

Posted over 3 years ago dolphinblue, I admire your courage to share your story. I have two young daughters, both under the age of 11, both of whom I adore. I just can't imagine what I would do to anyone who would even let anything like what has happened to you, and millions of others, even cross their mind when thinking about my children. I wish you the best and offer you my sincere apologies for what was done to you. I cannot even begin to understand what you have went through, but it is stories like these that help in my decision to push myself into the world of law enforcement. It is only a small change, as I am only one person, but it is a change that needs to be made. If I only helped one child out of these situations, it would be worth it to me. I wish you the best and keep your head held high...it is up to each one of us to make the change.

Thank God, even when we have faced trying times in our life experience of living. As ah child you was able to grasp hold of the Holy Ghost, as the Holy-Ghost was keeping you comforted during those times of sexual abuse. [T]he Lord has kept you my sister & may [T]he Lord continue on to keep you as you remain faithful with your ministry. Keep sharing your testimony.
