| Posted over 3 years ago Sheri thank God you survived..What a story...And turned out to be a wonderful person... I've been retired for 13 yrs now out with a LOD back injury and hating every minute of my retirement...and I still think of the children...The little boy with gonorrhea of the moutn and anus, his uncle is the perp darn sure wish I could have been the one to arrest him...The cutese little blue eyed girl who told me what grandpa did to her and how after I left she ran over, hugged me and told me she loved me...I guess because I protected her when her mom didn't..Mom said he did it to me I never thought he would do it to my daugher,,,I wish parents would learn..Like the two that were breaking up and arguing in front of the kids that neither one wanted the kids, I had all I could do not to take the kids with me to live...Those are just a few of too many that still haunt me...This job sucks in so many respects yet is the greatest job in the world....I always treated kids differently, I gave them respect, I listened to their opinions, I made them feel special even when they were just being stupid kids... Too many times we forget about the kids...And then we wonder why they act the way they do... My youngest now in college, says he is embarrassed by his generation..My oldest should be starting the police academy in January... Good luck to you being a female officer in this day and age is no walk in the park...Be careful although you already seem to have a guardian angel watching you...If I can be of any help just email me Diane |

| Posted over 3 years ago I was molested as a child and i did not tell. Because of fearand shame ..You dont talk about your personals.THAT IS WRONG>> You should do as i did with my boys.I started the day they were born.I told them drugs are bad . You dont need to be ashamed of your body. If someone touches your chest , your butt , or your penis tell mommy or the police .The police are your friends and are here to help you and protect you. There aint a thing my boys dont talk to me about..My oldest was kicked in school by another boy. when he told her she asked where did he kick you ..My boy said,,MY PENIS. needless to say .they did not like that and called me in and tried to get me in trouble with C.P...I backed them down with facts..!molestation cases get thrown out of court because.CHILDREN DONT KNOW THERE BODY PARTS .They dont tell doctor when something is wrong .they are tought to be ashamed to talk about it . Then they could have permanant health problem.. THESE ARE MEDICAL TERMS..Sgt.Terry Hall came to our town and set the schools and town straight.. Thanks to him talking to the children in school and the parents..Several people were arrested in my town.. I THINK YOU ARE WONDERFUL.FOR SHARING YOUR STORY. yOU MY WANT TO CONTACT TERRY .i BET HE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR YOUR STORY. A thousand times over THANK YOU.. |

| Posted over 3 years ago Thank you for sharing this story with us Sherry! You are an inspiration for being a true survivor! I can't speak for anyone but myself.....for me years of seeing bad things during my career has hardened my heart. This story has awakened a true sense of meaning once again that maybe what we "as Cops" does make a true difference!! |

| Posted over 3 years ago I was also abused (molested) - by my adoptive father - though not to the horrific extent you were. We, who go on to do right, be "good" and actually take care of our children and others are strong, and don't you forget that. It's the little flame at the core of our being that WILL NOT be extinguished. It's intrinsic. It's natural. It's the way we are made. You be proud and you take a stand. And don't ever be ashamed of being a victim. You go out there and make your mark on the world! "There is nothing worse than aggressive stupidity." Johann Wolfgang von Goethe |

| Posted over 3 years ago Thank you Omarra67 and that has been a lifelong passion of mine....to tell my story so that others may know they need not remain a victim....that they can survive anything and know they can come out of it strong and feeling alive. There is always a meaning to what we go through in life....the evil we face need not win the battle.....find that silver lining and one realizes evil does not have the hold it thinks it does. Power and control are illusive issues. Even when captive we have the power to control our mind and make choices within our mind....choices that can help us survive physically...the choice to live...to survive....to not succumb until there is no more life within us. dolphinblue-Sherry |

| Posted over 3 years ago sherry, You are truely a inspiration and a pillar of strength. "Strength and courage aren't always measured in medals and victories. They are measured in the struggles they overcome. The strongest people aren't always the people who win, but the people who don't give up when they lose. " Sherry are one of the Strongest God Bless you each and every day Your friend always Suz SWIRTHS |

| Posted over 3 years ago Thank you Suz....I really appreciate the quote....do you have the source.....so many victims consider themselves losers because they could not fight off their attackers and suffered the consequences....however, to survive an attack is just that.....you survived....the loss for some victims that never recover is that they lost the mental and psychological battle....they believed the lies of their perps.....and that is most sad. dolphinblue-Sherry |

| Posted over 3 years ago Thank You for your story. Abuse affects so many but yet most never tell about it including me. I had many family members and others abuse me and without a mom you really don't know what to do. If you tell ,you will no longer have a place to live you will be an orphan and what child would want that. There are many emotions and memories that come back when I hear of the stories. Sometimes when watching TV and there is abuse I can feel the anger inside of me. When I was 18 or 19 I had someone try and rape me. No matter how hard you try you can never erase these memories. There is a lot more to this story but that is the very short version. May God be with all of us that have had to go through this. |

| Posted over 3 years ago Sherry, Thank you for sharing your horrible, but surviving, triumphet courageous story. I will never understand how anyone can harm anyone at all in any way and then especially such innocent babies / children. This is just so very very wrong and horrifying. I am so sorry you went through this even for a day, much less for as long as you did. It has an impact that will always affect you and you may never be the same person as you once were, or could/would have been. But, definitely give yourself as I do lots of credit for rising above even after and now to be able to function. You are a survivor and that's important. You are a special and strong person. May Angels always watch over you. I don't know if this praying angel will turn out, but if not I will place an Angel when I can to my profile for you. You are also an inspiration and healing helping angel to others. God Bless you

| Posted over 3 years ago Sherry,
You are one in a million, and thank you for sharing your storey so many others can find the strength to rise above the terrible things that have happened, I spent 33 years in the LEO game and can remember the childrens faces and remember most of their names. As everyone knows you will never forget, it will stay with each and every officer for the rest of their life. Thank you for writing your storey in a way we can all understand, I found myself very humble after reading your story, I waited a day before writing this note, so many of us have found ourself unable to think about your abuse much less live it. If ever I can help you only need to ask....Dave Lynch |

| Posted over 3 years ago I credit my childhood for my strength resilience and courage BeachAngel so please do not think it has kept me from life....it has given me great purpose and a passion of teaching and mentoring and standing up for those who do not have a voice. And thank you LynchMotorSports ...that is the message I wish to leave with all who read ....one's past need not cripple one for the future.....I would not trade my past for the strength and passion it has given me....many people can not understand that....but some who have been tested by fire understand very well what I mean by that. dolphinblue-Sherry |
