My dear Sherry.....I could feel your pain and confusion when I read about you.  After reading a couple of paragraphs I knew it was you.  My mom always taught me to reach out to God because he guides those when they cannot guide themselves.  Always hold your head up high.  You are a survivor and a very good person, I can feel it, reach out to those who need you when you see their eyes and the confusion that you once had.  You'll know right away.  God Bless you and I am very honored to be part of your online friend group.  Keep those eyes twinkling......so long for now.

Thank you maverick and John Lovett9  and I also see the effects of all kinds of abuse issues in the patients I care for on the psych unit....and as you said substance abuse often becomes an unhealthy and debilitating retreat for many.   I appreciate you working those cases....none of them are easy.

This is an interesting topic. The way it was typed made it hard to follow at first. But I can understand where you are coming from. Keep on fighting the good fight. Its the only way to help others who really need it.

I do remember reading this a while back, and really thought I commented on it. But it looks like I didn't, sorry! bad things happen to good people all the time. With no ryme or reason, and most times when people hurt others, there is never acknowledgement or appologies. It is over looked and swept under a rug! Which makes things more painful for the person hurting! It's uncalled for, and most definitely the worse feeling anyone could ever be forced to have to live with! People scare me for a reason, and this story of yours is one of many reasons! I will appologize for all the rotten people that has and ever will live on this earth and then hand this to God! Man He really is the only one strong enough to deal with this. He made these people, and owns all the defects in life. We can't carry around what other people do to us because the burden because too heavy!

Unfortunately, with abuse comes a permanate black mard that sits on the top of people's hearts. It can be impossible to get rid of somedays! I am sure that with a lot of praying it can go away too!

I am so glad that you have made it through those terrible years. I will take your story with me as I deal with children who have been victims of horrible abuse and know that there is hope for these precious little ones. Thank-you for sharing such a painful past with us, god bless you for your stength.

Thank you A.L.and Crystal for your responses.  I tell my story to let people realize it is never about what happened to you in the past....it is about your attitude ....perps are all about trying to destroy the good and the decent.....to demean and insult and disrespect and belittle all that is good....I say from the moment you are free you are also free to make the choice you did not have during the abuse....one can cower and live in fear for the rest of your life.....or you cah be proactive and positive minded and work for the betterment of your community....and especially for the children!
